7 free apps for productivity!
Hey everyone! I wanted to put a post out today for different productivity apps that you can download on your laptop or computer to help you be more productive and organized in your studies and careers! I have used almost all of these apps if not all of them at one point or another and best of all, they're all free! I think productivity apps have helped me become more productive and more organized in the past few years of school and I hope they will help you too! Below are the 7 apps I find the most popular and most cool with some descriptions of what they are and how to use them!

1) Notion
Notion is a really helpful productivity app that allows you to combine your calendar, notes, spreadsheets, and everything else into one productivity system! You can get the personal version for free (which comes with a sufficient number of "blocks" or space) and it's also downloadable on your phone, laptop, tablet, and pretty much every device! I personally use Notion to plan out a lot of my content for writing groups I'm a part of and I find it important to have everything I need in one single system. The things you can do with Notion are almost limitless and I personally recommend this app!
2) Google Calendar
Google Calendar is a great app to use for your most basic calendar! It's completely free with a Gmail account and it is very easy to add events! Google Calendar is also great because it easily syncs with all your other devices so you can view it anywhere. Having a digital calendar is a great way to plan out your day and your events/meetings so that you won't be late to them! I use Google Calendar myself and enjoy writing in the "notes" section of each event to remind myself of certain things that I need to remember.
3) Pocket
Pocket is a great app to store articles, Youtube videos, and news in one system so that you can go back and read them later! This is a good app for those who are constantly finding new content that they want to read, but don't have the time to go into them at that moment. Additionally, I personally use Pocket to organize some research documents for classes or extracurriculars that I might need in the future!
4) Simple Mind
Simple Mind is a mind-mapping app that is free to use on different devices. You can create flow charts and mind maps, which are great ways to study and test your knowledge about subjects like Biology or History!
5) Todoist
Todoist is a simple and easy app that allows you to write down your to do lists for today, tomorrow, and any set future day! It has easy to use features such as "priority flags" that will allow you to visually mark and see which tasks are the most pressing to do and which tasks can be done later. Todoist's free version also comes with different lists and sub-lists that you can use to plan out what you need to do!
6) Habitica
Habitica isn't an app I personally use at the moment, but from my research that I've done, it's a habit tracker that allows you to make completing your habits as a "game". You receive a character that you can "level up" by achieving your goals and allow them to go on "quests" as well. Habitica can also allow you to party up with friends. This is a great way to hold accountability for your habits and is a powerful motivator to get your habits done every day.
7) Focus To-Do
I personally use Focus To-Do as a timer for pomodor sessions (25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of break)! It has other features too that allow you to create new tasks that you need to work on as well and you can also create groups for accountability! I like focus to-do because it has a clear and easy to use timer that you can set for both work/focus time and break time!

I'm also a huge fan of Forest, which I use for the pomodoro method (like the Focus one you post, I think.) Can't recommend that kind of timed working enough.
@nordurnStar
Nordum I use forest too!! I just didn't include it because it usually costs a dollar or two on different devices, but yes I love how it can literally force you to stay off your phone. I need that a lot and I used to use Forest a lot! :) I believe you can adjust the timers on Forest so that you are locking your phone from between 10 minutes to 2 hours! :D
@TheAtticusFinch
They have a free smaller version called Flower! But Forest is also the only app I've ever paid for, and I would have paid much more than they were charging if I had known how helpful it ended up being.
This is a great post with a lot of cool resources. And favorite cake is anything vanilla.
@TheAtticusFinch
this is very helpful!
Thank you for this list. We also used keyloggers https://celltrackingapps.com/best-keylogger-for-iphone/ for our child to check what he is doing while he is alone in the room and had to do the homework. Very useful thing.
Big fan of notion and forest too! I end up doing a lot for class with them. Weava makes text less overwhelming too with its highlighting features, so hopefully that helps! Also, best cake is carrot, very nutty
