Feeling lost with classes
I'm pretty much behind in my studies... I have a lot of classes left behind that I still have to pass and exams are coming up... I was so confident at the beginning of the semester and everything is going well but I just can't sit down and study the classes I want to pass...
I also happen to have a very good position waiting for me after graduation and although I know this should be a motivation I keep getting carried away in my daily routine (I'm doing my practice right now) and keep forgetting that I have a lot left behind
My self-esteem hit the bottom regarding classes after failing most of my exams last semester but I'm pretty good at hands on practice and when I think about the subjects I can't pass I tend to become depressed rather then motivated...
Any advice?
@HoneyBear1989 Hi HoneyBear I can completely relate to how tough student life can get esspecially when trying to juggle work and study. My advice to you would be to complete the college life training course 7 cups has to offer as you will be able to adapt the tips and reccomendations they give to you, to your own life. Some other advise I could perhaps give you, is to apply your practicals to the theory you are studying. Not only will this help you understand the theory better, it will also help you remember the theory for the exam. I hope you find this helpful, please feel free to message me anytime if you would like to chat further. Goodluck.

Hey there Honey Bear, seems like you're going through a tough time.
First of all, thank you for posting this. I know it can be hard to admit what you are going through, and I am sure plenty of students relate to you a lot, just like I relate to you. I remember going through exactly what you are going through.
When speaking of classes that you fail, would you say that you enjoy the subjects?
If you don't mind me asking, what are you studying? What are the subjects that you have failed?
It is cliche to say, but failing subjects is O.K. We all fail in our lives, and it is a learning experience. I am very proud that you have a position waiting for you - and with future plans like that, sometimes current studies aren't really necessary (but it is completely up to you).
Would you say that somewhere throughout the semester your determination just dropped? Because if that is the case, then I completely understand and have many tips that could potentially help you out with that, but I wont bombard you without knowing that that is the issue.
I hope to hear from you. :) Take care
@eeveeon I study medicine and my offer is for a future internship which requires me to get my degree first, so it's not something I can drop...
I was struggling with a lot of issues during the time as a student... a beloved family member passed away, I was struggling with major depression and even went as far as having 2 suicide attempts which got me into the psych ward for 3 months... I had a very bad experience with my marriage - got divorced recently... and all this stuff held me back.
I really want to finish, but sometimes when I think about how many classes I have left behind they seem like an impossible task. I try to focus on less classes for every exam period and put away the rest so that they seem easier to manage...
Subjects I have trouble with are mainly biochemistry, chemistry/physics and physiology... they are in a way related to each other, with formulas to remember and all this incomprehensible to me stuff... I tried to find a tutor this summer and he ended up hitting on me despite being married so I sent him away... I guess this was not my lucky year... lol
I wish I could drop classes but they are mandatory so there's nothing I can do...
Hi Honey Bear. I can relate to your struggles with biochemistry. I took a biopsychology course this past summer and then a biology course this fall. I find both chemistry and biology extremely difficult subjects as well, and for this reason I am not interested in attending med school because it's not something I excel at. I enjoy science and research but not so much the vocabulary and instruments and microscopic things, etc. Anyway, when I took chemistry, I made an A by going to the tutoring center at my college three days per week. I needed help with almost every assignment. Have you tried the tutoring center at your school? Or even considered an online tutor?
Hopefully there are many more subjects in the medicine track that you enjoy so you are able to balance out your schedule.
