For the love of learning!
Hi everyone!! Happy Friday <3 I hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far. This week has been an absolute learning experience for me. Not academically, but spiritually and emotionally :o I've just been through a lot in the last 2 weeks and I finally feel like I'm getting a hold of things and I feel genuinely happy that I've finally learned what I do and don't deserve and also learned a lot about friendships as well. You might guess why I wanted to talk about learning this week, but I also wanted to open up the conversation to other forms of learning as well!
Some great things to learn about yourself might be learning new subjects or learning new skills, or learning new things about yourself in your own self-discovery journey! For me as both a teen and a student, I was learning a lot this week about myself and my boundaries (which I consider a more emotional part of me) and also learning more about how to write (since I was writing my article this week!). There was also a chance for me to discover new learning communities this week, as I left my old one and am in search of new communities to study and learn.
I've always loved learning personally. Whether it's about something random that I'll never use in my life or something extremely interesting to me (like political philosophy!). I've always really loved learning and the loving of learning that I have has really fueled me through the most difficult things I've had to learn. Learning for me is caring, and I enjoy caring about things and there's a lot of joy that comes from that.
Learning isn't always easy though! There are always subjects that are really difficult to learn, such as (for me) chemistry and mathematics. But there are a lot of mental health/life lessons that are also really difficult to learn as well. Like for me, learning how to really love myself was almost as hard as learning how to do geometry in my math class. Being open to learning is hard as well. Sometimes it's really hard to accept the mistakes that we've made in our math class, just like it's really hard to accept the really difficult events that might have happened in the past. Regardless, it's really important to continue to learn and continue to keep going.
I have a video recommendation if anyone is interested, it's right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgDGlcxYrhQ

🌱How do you feel about learning? Do you consider yourself a learner?
I love learning! And I hope to be a life-long learner.
🌱What's your favorite thing that you've learned emotionally in the past few weeks?
I learned to be a "builder," not just a "believer." (Check out the book "The Person You Meant To Be")
🌱What's your favorite thing that you've learned (like a skill or subject)?
My favorite thing so far is philosophy, particularly philosophers from ancient times.
🌱Which do you prefer, sunrise or sunset and why
Probably sunset, but it is neck to neck with sunrise. I like sunset better because it symbolizes the completion of work well done, but also symbolizes new dreams to be reached and new goals to be accomplished.

How do you feel about learning? Do you consider yourself a learner?
I've been in a bit of a lazy spell lately, so learning doesn't sound much appealing currently. But I would like to say that I'm usually eager to learn!
What's your favorite thing that you've learned emotionally in the past few weeks?
In the past few weeks, I've learned that sometimes, you just have to go with the flow of your emotions. There will be times where you feel great, and there will be times where you feel terrible, and there will be times where you don't feel anything at all or just feel neutral, and just accepting these moods as they come can go a long way.
What's your favorite thing that you've learned (like a skill or subject)?
Active listening!
Which do you prefer, sunrise or sunset and why
Definitely sunrise. I wake up at 5 am every day, so seeing the sky brighten up into a new day definitely gives me a boost of motivation and energy to get started with my day. Also, seeing the sun rise reminds me of the potential that each budding day has!
🌱How do you feel about learning? Do you consider yourself a learner?
I adore learning, though I like learning certain things better than others. For example, I liked learning the proof of the remainder theorem better than I liked learning to graph an exponential equation.
🌱What's your favourite thing that you've learned emotionally in the past few weeks?
I've learnt that it doesn't matter what I currently am; it matters more what I aspire to be and how much effort I put into it.
🌱What's your favourite thing that you've learned (like a skill or subject)?
I can't decide... If it's a skill, I think I've enjoyed learning languages such as Japanese and German. If it's a subject, nothing can beat psychology.
🌱Which do you prefer, sunrise or sunset and why
I like sunset; both are pretty, but you don't need to wake up early for a sunset 😊.
@TheAtticusFinch Thanks for the video rec! As for the discussion questions:
🌱How do you feel about learning? Do you consider yourself a learner?
> I think of learning as an essential aspect of being a living, breathing, growing human (not to disregard the fact that other beings learn too, but yeah, you get my point). I love learning about different things, be it academic or otherwise. I've had a lot of time to learn things I actually want to learn - one of the many privileges of living comfortably during this pandemic that I'm immensely grateful for - so I've been engaged with quite a few communities and learned quite a few things about myself and others around me. And of course, online learning! So yes, I would definitely consider myself a learner, as should all others, even if they're not academically inclined!
🌱What's your favorite thing that you've learned emotionally in the past few weeks?
> Over the past few weeks, I've learned that self-reflection is my best friend (also thanks to the Self Care Challenge that's going on 7 Cups right now!). A couple things that stand out to me are that sometimes, it's okay to have a day where you feel like absolute crap, but just pick yourself up later. It's alright to let it all out.
🌱What's your favorite thing that you've learned (like a skill or subject)?
> Been learning about Greek Mythology and Website Design on Coursera these days, and loving it!
🌱Which do you prefer, sunrise or sunset and why.
> I prefer the sunrise because that signifies the start of a new day. Hopefully I can be up during that time to witness more of them in the future.
