How to refocus on school?

I have been dealing with a lot of family stress and relationship stress outside of the classroom. I feel like I am using all my freetime to think about what to do with these other issues I'm facing instead of focusing on my responsibilities. My mind wanders when I read, I get distracted when I'm supposed to write, I don't feel prepared for discussion and I'm turing in assignments either late or poor quality. What can I do to keep my mind off of other things so I can focus on school?

@SecretlyMe Hello, first off- you're not alone. This is an issue I have dealt with a lot myself. Try not to be too hard on yourself about it. If you do the best you can and that is all you've got, try to be proud of it even if it isn't as much as you could do at another time. Sometimes it is awkward to do, but I definitely recommend letting your teachers know what you are going through. You don't have to go into detail, only share what you are comfortable sharing, but if they know you are struggling they may be able to help you through this rough patch in some way. Something else that can help is taking a walk (even if you can't go outside and only have your bedroom) or a few minutes of meditation before you start homework. Try to breath and let your mind clear for a while before you start focusing on school. I hope you will find a way to get refocused- maybe these suggestion will help. :)

@Songbirdjo thank you for your advice. I have a lot of reading that needs to get done by tomorrow morning and I couldn't bring myself to read it all day. I'll give the meditation a try and see if that helps.
