So, I have just started at a new school, and already having trouble keeping up on my homework. I am a Medical Assisting student currently, and wondered if anyone else could offer some tips to help me stay on top of my work? Also, what helped any of you through Medical School or Nursing school?

Thanks

I'm also a student and really suffered with the work load too. I'm only starting second year but from experience making a list of things to do and prioritising them always helps me out. It's daunting starting a new school but don't be afraid of asking for help off other students. They were in your position too once and you could meet some really awesome people

Good point, don't ever feel like you're alone in it. Make a friend, study together. It's always good to have someone to create a dialogue with.

There are a lot of good ways to keep on top of it, but the most important thing is to do it in intervals. If you do too much at one time, it can stress you out.

Dedicate a set amount of time to doing your homework every day.. The more you follow that routine the more you will become accustomed to focusing during that time.

Study in intervals of 30-40 mins with 5-10 min breaks in between.

If you are doing a lot of memorization, make notecards. Study them whenever you have a free minute and nothing to do.

The more confident you are in your skills to succeed, the easier it will become for you to get through the homework in less time.

Take shorthand note in class.. Usually in a program like that, you can get the slides to print out. Jot down notes that help you remember the info.

Make connections between things you're learning and things you already know.

Its all about people and the human body. You're a human. You deal with people all the time. Let your experiences work for you.
