Dealing with unreliable/busy recommendation writers
Hi,
An internship I applied for asked for two letters of recommendation. I asked two former employers who have written a letter for me before plus my boss from this summer. I emailed the internship to ask if they had receive my letters, and they send they have not received anything.
It makes me so anxious to bug people, but I feel like I will have to. One of the former employers said he would send it on September 15th, but I guess didn't send it. He had emailed me a copy before, so I ended up sending his letter myself. I don't know if that was an unprofessional thing to do, but I just want to have this application in. I am wondering if I should email him to tell him I did that because I know he is busy? It might be awkward if the internship received another letter from him that I already sent.
My boss from the summer said he would send a letter by September 30th. Maybe I can give a little time, but I feel like I will need to send him a reminder. :( The other former employer never replied at all, but I know she sometimes doesn't respond to emails.
Fyi this application is rolling admissions, but I will have a lottery to know my schedule for next year in November, so I would like to set this up.

@Daydreamer47 Hello Daydreamer, I totally understand your hesitation to ask them I feel that way when requesting people to do something too. I get that it might be scary asking them again. If I were you I might send another email, it's common for people to forget tasks so shooting them a friendly reminder for me wouldn't be a bad thing. Of course I may also not be understanding the full situation and this may not be applicable. All in all I wish you luck and hope they send your recommendations swiftly!
