How do you resolve apathy?
Hi everyone, school recently let out for summer and I've been feeling extremely unmotivated. I recently developed an interest in comedy and humorous writing, tried activities involved with it for a few weeks (ex: filming short skits) and then completely stopped.
I also struggle with addiction to YouTube/video games and would much rather waste a whole day doing that then planning out my day productively and doing tasks.
I've tried To-do software/lists, setting goals, website blockers, and even reading horror stories of people who ruined their lives with gaming and Youtube online to make myself feel guilty.
But nothing works.
This has been going on for a month and it has been impacting my daily life greatly. I used to enjoy taking walks outside but now that seems like a chore. I've also always struggled with not exercising, not taking care of my skin, and eating too much late at night. I've also been told my fashion sense is terrible.
It also doesn't help that I suck at planning, have no logic, and can only notice problems with myself if someone else points them out.
I feel like there is absolutely nothing right with me - I have no ambition, discipline, motivation, or even desire to keep myself clean. If it weren't for certain people in my life, I wouldn't even do any of those things at all. I'd simply rot away and not care while doing so.
That's my vent - thank you for reading :)
TLDR: Struggle with a general sense of apathy towards life - need someone else to hold me accountable
@reliablePapaya9053 Im sorry that youre going through this, its hard to get out of that rut. I feel you dont have an apathy towards life, its towards you. The barrier is you. Identify that, work towards it. Find out the root cause of why you self sabotage and why nothing works. What makes you keep going to the same thing again when you know its harmful. What kind of pleasure or coping mechanism do you derive from it, Once you figure that out, you learn to tackle it.
