More Work Problems
So to go off of my only other post in here, this happened to me today. I had a jury summons for today. I put in for a vacation day a couple of weeks ago and stated that if I didn't need to be there, I would come into the office. I'm pretty sure the day was approved although I don't have the generic email that's sent out when time off is approved. I was at the courthouse all day and am expected to return tomorrow. So as soon as I could get to my office, I did so and did a jury duty request for the rest of the week.
I sent an email off to my manager explaining the circumstances and even was expressed the feeling that I thought some of the events that happened in the courthouse put into context what management was trying to get across to me. I was polite about it and everything.
Shortly after I finally got home, a slightly panicked brother showed up stating my office had called my mom and left a message because I was a "no call no show" and that they had left me a message. I checked. No messages. Hardly any phone calls. Turns out they called my mom's number and left a message. No idea why. Then I happened to go through my emails because I was looking for verification from the court. For some reason I thought they had sent an email about it (I misunderstood that part. I had to go to the court's website and save the attendance sheet). What I did find was an email from HR stating that if I didn't get in touch with them immediately, I could be terminated.
I called the number back and left a message explaining what happened. As if I don't have enough problems with HR at the moment. This just really makes me mad. I informed them of the summons before this other trouble started. Now I don't know what to think. Last week I was told I was a good worker, I just need to be more aware of my surroundings and the people around me. This week, I feel like I'm being shoved out the door when I informed them beforehand about jury duty.
It's like no matter what I do, it's wrong.

It sounds like you are trying to make everything work. I hate when I feel like everything I do is wrong. I hope you can get it figured out.
@loyalMoon7927 Thanks! My brother has offered to help if things go south. I'm sure my mother would help as well. I have put up some talent profiles with a couple of places. I also want to do some learning apps on my mobile but this week I've been so tired when I come back from the courthouse. I actually have been home for a little over an hour and a half and I haven't really done much of anything. I still haven't eaten yet.
I just wanted to put some feelers out as it were in case the worse thing happens next week. Of course, I can't be fired for serving on a jury but I think they'd look for any other little thing to get rid of me. I just have that sort of feeling.
Of course, right now all I feel is hunger so I really should eat.
@Enthenia Try to do everything by email with HR. If you have to call them, send a follow up email to them summarizing what was discussed. I find it outrageous that they would be threatening to fire you because of one day. Document every communication you have with your employer, the court, etc. Don’t ever bring this up to them unless you feel like you have no other option and want to burn a huge bridge, but, you could sue your employer for interfering with your livelihood because of jury duty. Because they seemed to call everyone but you, perhaps they are doing something shady. You might even want to contact legal aid - I believe you can get free legal advice from them for something like this. It’s hard enough to work and do jury duty and it usually ends up screwing the employee in terms of lost time and lost wages, etc. And a thanks to you for doing that duty and putting up with a $hIt system. @helpfulAvocado7912 Thanks for the response. Actually, I haven't had any other communication after that fiasco on Monday. What makes me mad is that I did inform management beforehand. I put in for a vacation day at over a week before the summons date. I am sure it was approved because I remember getting a generic email stating something to the effect of "Your time off request has been approved".
Yet, on the day I put in for, conveniently slipped management's mind or something. I just find all this entirely too coincidental. I got in trouble a couple of weeks ago (a write-up) for not being a team player, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, etc. and then this jury summons seems to be conveniently forgotten. I really don't know what to expect when I go in on Monday. I just have the feeling that they will find a "convenient" reason to let me go because they are aware that I can't be fired over jury duty.
But, I have put in profiles with three companies in the meantime. One, I found out, has an office up the street from where I currently work. That would be most convenient.
And, there's all the inconsistency yet I was blamed for the same thing over a week ago. It just doesn't seem right that management can say and do what they want yet regular employees have no say. Like me going to HR. I really didn't want to go because I've had similar experiences before and after my "talking to" I had last week from middle management, I was right. I should not have listened to the advice of others.
Fortunately, this jury duty is expected to last until the end of the week. I don't like the hours and the extended commute but currently, I'd rather deal with that than my work.
