why someone just give up so easily?
A med student here, recently struggling with my getting into my residency programs, very exhuasted about my own stuffs. And then one friend came to me saying that her need an academic publication to enroll into a better Master's program and ask me for help, I agreed...
While I'm suffering from my own issues, I have to help her on her SCI from topic selection to figure creation and manuscript polishing... All she need is to follow the outline I gave her and got this review submitted. I certainly know that it's difficult for a SCI to get published, being rejected is kinda a normal thing. But I believe this review has great potential, just need some patience, after all I have my own three SCI papers published.
However, just one hour ago she told me that this review is a "trash" and she gave up submitting. Well lol, I have my own problems to handle, everyone is in pain, why wasting my time. And by saying that, just directly exacerbates my mood when I'm still in great pain, why someone just give up so easily? just wanna say fuxx u, sorry for my bad words

I encourage you to just focus on you and make sure that you don't give up, that's something you can control 🩷
I would be fed up and annoyed too but you were kind and decided to help someone and that's a nice personality trait, even if it wasn't appreciated.
Just step back and try to do something for yourself, you deserve to feel good :)
