I often wonder as some things are enough to scare people to cut way down on things or quit and for others it does not seem to be much more then a speed bump.

Being on verge of losing a job is a big one as it will disrupt most of life if bills cannot be paid etc increasing stress and issues i would imagine make someone more likely to drink MORE.

i find the process of asking myself what do i get out of this and is it worth all i am ready to lose.....

this can apply to any addiction...... with drinking the temporary Numbness and forgetting vs more drama and issues growing ......when we are distracted.

Being an alcoholic is no joke. I am one myself but I am currently 4 months clean. I hope you realise that you are close to losing your job. Honestly the only thing that worked for me was multiple rehabs. I am still very young and have a lot ahead of me but trust me when I tell you that drinking will *** up your life so much. Maybe try an AA meeting. The people there are very supportive. Or try an outpatient program. It is going to take a lot to stop yourself, you have a long road ahead of you. Take it one day at a time. I am here to talk always, reach out whenever. I wish you luck on recovery. Life without alcohol will make you realise so much!!

Many people don't know that alcohol addiction can be treated medically. There are medications like naltrexone that block the positive effects of alcohol. Topamax can block the cravings for alcohol. These meds paired w a support program can greatly increase your odds of success. There are also alternatives to AA out there. Refuge Recovery is a Buddhist take on AA w a more meditative, inclusive approach, and SMART recovery is science-based. They both have online and live meetings around a lot of places. You have to want it, to want to make the changes, but with help, it can be easier to do. Good luck to you.
