Continued struggles.

So I fell off of the wagon pretty hard this past week. Continually had multiple beers daily. I feel like it's been a mixture of stress and anxiety about my workplace, because my employer and I had a falling out. But I stopped today, and I'm definitely feeling the withdrawals and severe anxiety that is so familiar with it. I'm starting my new job on Monday. (New job pays more and is full time. And my friend is the manager. So that's nice.) It just gets difficult to not go back to the alcohol. And then looking back at all of the stupid stuff I've done when I was drinking and worrying that it will somehow catch up with me, whether it's an angry person for how I behaved towards them, or some of the other reckless behavior I've engaged in. I have trouble not "Seeing the hope" or being very positive without the alcohol. Which I know is not the answer. I guess I'm just trying to believe that things are actually going to be okay anxiety wise, and that, given that I haven't drank today and won't tomorrow, that I'll be fine and not too anxious or freaked out for work. I did start naltrexone today, which I've been putting off. I'm hoping it can help me out. I apologize for the long post. If you made it this far reading, thank you for your time.

Good luck with the new job, my friend. The anxiety from not drinking can be so overwhelming! I’m dealing with trying to not open a beer as I type this to you. I know I will feel better tomorrow if I don’t drink now. But the struggle is strong. Thank you for sharing. I can be some of your anxiety is also coming from the excitement of a new (positive-looking) job. See, there is hope. Sometimes it’s just not as visible. Time will tell. I hope and wish you the best of luck this week. Stay strong!
