Hi,

I have problems with my drinking. I stopped 11 years ago but then started again a couple of years ago, just ocassional drinking, but of course it stopped being occasional and I'm right back at drinking almost every day.

I've decided to stop on Monday. I've booked myself into an airbnb for a week just to get some space away from the usual stresses of family life, while I sort my head out.

I also have chronic depression, GAD, BPD, ADHD and Aspergers - alcohol helps none of them, except maybe the aspergers because it allows me to be sociable. I drink mainly out of boredom and depression. Its like a vicious circle though, the drinking makes me have less energy, I hate my surroundings because its cluttered and I have no structure, which depresses me, which makes me drink and so round and round I go.

Anyway. I realise I probably need some support from people that understand. I cant afford a therapist right now, so this is a real lifeline for me.

When I'm not drinking and not a mental mess. I love crochet and knitting and I paint reborn dolls, I also love traveling, I've been to about 60 countries now. And my guilty pleasure other than alchohol is the Tv show 90 Day fiance, which I have to download illegaly from the internet, cos I live in Bulgaria!

Hope every one here is doing well and making progress in some way

Siobhan

I found the fact that you can become addicted is the problem, lots of people never do they can stop.. focus your addiction onto something else...

@Hebwitch2009!! 🙏🏻 It’s very brave of you to recognize that you need to take action to tackle your problem, and to be actually doing in with the tools you hs right now 🙌🏼 I’m proud of you for that.

Getting away from the triggers and stressors for a while is a great idea to give yourself a fresh start. If you like cooking you can learn new recipes of healthy foods so you can give yourself the idea that now you start taking care of yourself and your health as a whole 💕 same with a little exercise in a way you enjoy.

I’m also trying to arrange therapy but it’s costly so I understand where you’re coming from.

Your hobbies sound so interesting! I love traveling too. I hope I can travel normally again when the global situation allows. I’ve never been to Bulgaria! My favorite country to visit so far was Nepal.

Stay strong 💪🏼

Hope.

Thank you so much for your share. Drinking every day is something I can relate to also. Mindful drinking and respectful drinking is something that comes to mind, when I read your post.
