Husbands alcoholism
My husband is an alcoholic, ups and downs but vicious cycle and he refuses to get help even though now he is home with our 1 yr old son and drinking alone with him, leaving him in the car to go into the liquor store, getting sick with withdrawals and still trying to lie to me about it...When he’s sober, life is so good, when he’s drinking or hungover, he’s not the same and it ruins weekends, events, meals, nights, vacations, birthdays, you name it - don’t know what to do
I've been through it. Mine ended up getting sober for 18 years, when I formed a plan, packed up our 3 young children and began moving out. He asked me for one more chance, said he took this serious, and he did it. About 6 years ago he relapsed, but not with alcohol this time it was meth. I knew something was off, I couldn't figure it out. I did nearly 3 years into his active addiction. Devastated doesn't cover it! I chose to try to help him, and guide him. I had to make my choice everyday. I woke up, I looked in the mirror and I weighed the options, and made my choice. Trust is a REAL ISSUE! He's struggled. I've struggled. We have no kids living at home anymore, all grown. So my decision is based on JUST ME. IF my kids were still younger, the choice would NOT be the same. You must weigh your own choices, and follow what you feel is right for your child. The trauma suffered when "remembering" kicks in can be severe, and effect every aspect of life there after. Best of luck! I really feel you. Hugs! Monica B...purpleskyz1988
@lightSpring378 I'm also going through the same problem. Feeling tired and depressed.
@lightSpring378,
We are in the same boat here, I don’t know what to do anymore. My partner is also like yours nice when he is sober we do so well together, but the only thing that I don’t like is that he’s inpatient. But other than that we do great when he is without drinking. But when he does drink he also ruins things that you mention and it also gets me very depress not I just shot down completely because of all this issue. We can never go out together to enjoy some quality time together if we do he always intends to have a beer right there next to him :( i know that this post has been written a while ago, but I really hope that you are still on here and let me know if your husband has left he’s drinking addiction.
I'm dealing with the same thing .I packed his stuff and told him to get out .Now I feel guilty and sad but I cant keep doing this myself.
@starnyl
@starnyl as someone who struggles with addiction, i have seen both sides. how it harms the addict, and the people around. and i would like to tell you to please not feel guilty or sad and that it is not your fault. its the husbands problem and as much as he is suffering from it, he also needs to pay attention to how its hurting you. if he needs to leave, and its the best for both of you...so be it.
I love him and wanted him to change .His brother passed away a few years ago from the same Sucks
