I need someone to chat with
I have been having horrible alcohol cravings today. All I can think about is going to the corner store or the liquor store and buying alcohol. Thats all thats on my brain.
I feel you. I just spent the weekend with my aging and highly exasperating parents. I’m one who prefers to be alone, so I’m extremely socially drained. I just want to get home and drink. But I’m on day 6 of my latest sobriety kick, so I’m going to resist. Some things that help me: -Distractions. Yeah, obvious. But make a list, then a schedule. Write it out, and stick to it. Provides productivity and accountability. -Message a friend or family you haven’t talked to in while. -If you can’t find someone to talk to, write. Like a journal, or something creative, or things you’re grateful for, or why you shouldn’t drink tonight. -Binge eat. Haha. If you can’t have alcohol...then have something you can have. I always just order a pizza. Not necessarily healthy, but better than caving to alcohol. -Embrace the craving. Find solace in the suffering. Laugh at it, knowing you are better and stronger than it. -Reply to posts on here! It helps...its natural to practice what you preach. Just some thoughts. Good luck!
