Just out of an addiction treatment centre
Hi all,
Today is my first day post-treatment. I was in for a 12-week programme and it has done me so much good and changed my life for the better. I have been feeling a little guilty today because I didn’t go to an AA meeting but I’m hoping this is normal, I just had so much to do because I moved into a new place etc.. I really don’t want to stall in my recovery now that I am out. Any tips would be appreciated.

Frank! I am cheering for you! So grateful for you! Because I myself struggled with addictions, almost killed me, it is out of h e l l. So I am grateful for you!
I have faith now, but I would tell you this: Anything that tempts you to those old things... just cut it off... be radical about it. It could be places... avoid them... it could people... cut them out. Get radical, really, because it ain´t no fun.
Surround yourself with the same minded people, encouraging, good people that build you up and encourage you up, that you can trust, that are there to help you.
Be busy. You know the quote from Shawshank Redemption, right? GET BUSY LIVING OR GET BUSY DYING. Well, get busy. Be occupied with something... a job... a hobby... always.
That is my advice.
