Alcohol addiction
This is all new to me, but here I go. I have been trying to quit drinking for a long time, with no success. I have gone several months clean, but fall back into the same patterns. I just started to see a counselor , which is tough for me, as I keep alot bottled up. But, I also thought I would try this. I am open to any thoughts and or suggestions to try and break my patterns of drinking. Thanks
@agreeablePlum343 Hi plum, it's great that you've started seeing a counsellor as any addiction is hard to tackle alone. What is noticeable for me from your post is that you mention how hard going to counselling is for you as you keep things bottled up. The opposite of addiction is connection, as the saying goes - I'm hoping that being able to foster a working alliance with your counsellor may be key to loosening the grip of the addiction. I've linked below to the self help guide on alcohol use and wish you the best as you navigate through this.

It's so inspiring that you recognised you needed help in the first place, honesty is so vital in overcoming and working through addiction. Seeing a counsellor is not easy and facing hard truths but it's a strength and please take it one day at a time, you are moving forward and that's what counts 🥰
