The real ENEMY
What if addiction was never the real enemy?
What if the real enemy was the pain nobody asked about… The silence after “I’m fine.” The nights people survived but never talked about.
Addiction didn’t start with substances. It started with something hurting.
And recovery? Recovery starts the moment someone feels seen instead of judged.
Today, instead of asking: “What’s wrong with you?”
Let’s ask: “What happened to you?”
If you’re still fighting even quietly you are not weak. You are still here. And sometimes, surviving is the bravest recovery step of all.
💬 One word check-in: How are you really feeling today?
@Uniquekombat the substance in itself isn't great but it's not the enemy you're actually right 🫶🏼 🧡 fighting your own thoughts, your own self and this is why it's very hard and it's one of the hardest battle ever but we can do it right ☺️ 🌸 don't forget to be gentle to yourself and to understand that even if you're trying to restrain those thoughts you have to understand "why and how" this addiction affects you so much (the mechanisms of it) once you understand that you can actually win 💌!
Thank you for sharing this... You explained it beautifully 🤍
I agree that the struggle often goes deeper than the substance itself. Sometimes it feels like we’re fighting our own minds, our own memories, and the ways we learned to cope with pain. That’s what makes recovery such a brave journey... It asks us to understand ourselves, not just resist something.
Your reminder about being gentle with ourselves really stood out to me. Healing isn’t punishment; it’s patience and self-understanding, one step at a time.
I’m curious🤔was there a moment or realization that helped you begin to understand your own “why”? I feel like conversations like this help all of us feel less alone.
@Uniquekombat thank you for expressing my thoughts clearly! ☺️ it was when I sit down and actually read a book about it instead of being ashamed of my addiction 🌱 🫶🏼 and it's been two years that I'm free of it right now and my brain tries really hard to find another way and I still understand how and why even if it's not easy 🌸 🌱 it's a journey of understanding and it's also a war but it's not it's more like a "deep thinking war" you have to really think about a strategy and if the strategy is not working or is overused you need to find another one until it works💌 🫶🏼 it's definitely the same!
