Trapped

I feel trapped and scared. I had asked a old friend (that I haven't talked to in 2 years) to speak at my AA meeting and she did but she ended up staying the night because it was too late and dark for her to drive home. The sleepover was great, first time someone cared enough to hang out with me in quite some time. But i wonder if there is a motive? She is a sex addict and I don't like sex. I also am triggered easily (trauma) and the things she says are very triggering. And I feel like I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, and I wish it would. I don't want a friend. Especially if it's nice to hang out with someone and feel incredibly low and scared when they leave. I agreed to have her over again. And now I am in another situation I can't get myself out of. I just want to be normal.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling trapped and scared in this situation. It's understandable that you would feel uneasy, given your friend's past struggles with sex addiction and your own traumatic experiences. It's important to prioritize your own well-being and comfort, especially when it comes to your recovery and sobriety.

It's okay to set boundaries and say no to situations that make you feel uncomfortable or triggered. You don't have to feel obligated to have someone over again if you don't feel it's a healthy or safe situation for you. It's important to communicate your concerns and needs with your friend and be honest about what you're comfortable with.

Remember that it's okay to take care of yourself and put your recovery first. You don't have to be friends with someone if it's not a healthy or positive relationship for you. There are other people and resources available to support you in your recovery journey. If you ever need to talk or get additional support, please reach out to your AA group or a trusted friend or professional.
