Hello everyone I'm a recovering fully functioning ice addict. Around 5 and a half years ago I picked up the pipe just for fun on the weekends. I realised it wasnt going to stay that way once it reached the point of smoking it everyday. I've had a go at going cold turkey and it lasted 3 weeks then I was right back into it again. Even harder. Shooting up occasionally but mainly smoking a pipe. The money was a real issue as all my spare money went on meth. It was depressing to say the least. The day before my birthday this year I promised i wasn't going to touch it again. I've been 59 days clean now. Wow it's been the hardest thing i have ever done in my life. Every day I'm struggling some days more then others but I'm feeling better in myself already. I'm actually going out and doing things like camping with friends and kayaking and enjoying life and enjoying money again, because I can now buy things I want instead of what I think I need. It's hard to explain to people who have never been through the withdrawals how I'm feeling at times which is why I joined this thread. Good luck to everybody in their own journey. Life can get tough at times but in the end we all make our own choices.

I am not an addict , but I am an advocate of drug abuse. I was just.... speaking to a person that was in rehab 10 years ago. He spoke to me about how he stopped using Meth several times off, and on, and each it got harder, and harder to stop. It was like a machine that gets harder to reach, to turn off. It was awful.... , he said. What addicts seem to have an issue with is , drug pride, where you think these urges can never come back. You may not get an urge to use right away during your sobriety for years, But man.... one day you may think you got the world in your hands, and everything is good, and you get that lil bit of drug cockiness, and you think.... I can handle this now... and you decided to take one hit..... Bad...mistake..... The brain goes right back into full.... addiction, like a monster...! So, in the future as I have studied addiction and, some of the worst ramifications, please..... STOP underestimating this disease. Take it one day at a time for the rest of your life, because of the powerful psychological strengths that over throws the human mind. Drug addiction is known for playing tricks. Don’t trust those false moments of pride of being able to take just one hit. It’s a lie.

Hit the nail on the head, that is how I relapsed on meth after 11 years sober!
