7 years sober but having a really hard time

In highschool at age 14 I started using ❄️ . At 17 I went through rehab and have been sober ever since . The past two weeks , it's all I can think about. I think about how happy I was when I used and how much more energy I'd have . I'm at the lowest I've ever been in my life and I have no support . I tried to contact the friends I made while in rehab (7 years ago ) and I found out that all but 1 person has passed away since then . Knowing that is the only thing that has kept me sober but I still can't help but crave that feeling again . Any suggestions on how to get these urges to pass ?

Thank you for sharing that you are struggling with this - I understand and can relate. I have about 9 years free from my DOC, and thoughts/urges have been returning recently. I'm so sorry you're struggling with this. Now, because of the pandemic, there are a lot of AA, NA, etc. (whichever your preference) meetings offered virtually and you can remain anonymous. Admittedly, I haven't attended a meeting in quite some time - it helped to hear others share about their early sobriety to reflect on how far I've come. I did a quick google search and found tons of options for any timeframe. I thought maybe this would be helpful for you. Also, using the sharing circles on this app have really helped. I hope this helps!

Please remember how amazing it is that you have made it this far - you overcame addiction at a young age and persisted! You are strong and brave, and it's amazing that you reached out for support when needed. Sending you support and wishing you the best 💜
