Are you in recovery? If so,what's something that changed that you didn't expect?

Something that changed for me was my outlook on friendship. I realized that true friends are the ones that want nothing but the best for you, which means you getting clean and sober. They understand if you can't go out drinking and partying and will plan accordingly to include you...
What's something that changed for you?

@ChassyMom Good question! I'd have to say one major change would be my perspective on addiction as a whole. I gained so much insight on addiction and how it functions, even with addictions that I have no experience with.
@lovelyWhisper66 I'm struggling to find the positive and feel rock bottom
@tornwillow Hi torn! It can be a struggle. Positivity does take time to manage. Baby steps are helpful like even getting out of bed or eating a healthy snake. Every task makes a difference! We are all here for you. ❤️
I'm in recovery. I'm 9 months sober right now and I never thought I'd be like this, or this far sober. I wanted to be a drug addict for the rest of my life, I'm not even joking. I never wanted to give it up because I didn't think it impacted me and I didn't realise just how badly it was impacting me. I was killing my liver, my friends and family all hated how I was acting, they were all scared that I was going to die, etc.
I never thought that I'd want to live either, when I was addicted to the drugs that I was addicted to I didn't think that I wanted to live, and I thought I had nothing to live for. I was wrong. It's not easier to stay motivated or anything, but I do have a will and a desire to live.
Also, I never thought that I'd have the friends that I do. I had to give up a lot of people when I was getting sober, and that included getting rid of all my drug friends, and now all my friends are proud of me for being so far in recovery and for staying sober.
I think that, in the beginning, I never would have guessed how much I value a peaceful home.
