Craving some painkillers

I woke up this morning just wanting some painkillers. Really bad. I might have to smoke a little to take the edge off of the desire. Does anyone else experience this where you wake up and the first thing you want is not coffee or food but instead its just your drug of choice? How do you curb the desire? What things do you do instead of trying to score? Please share your stories and advice!

@monateru21 Some days are definitely more difficult than others and I'm really proud of you for reaching out and asking what helps others. That's a huge thing to do. Depending on the intensity of my craving, I'll preoccupy myself in my apartment or end up staring at my clock saying that I can score in one minute and start then tell myself that again one minute later. It always has to be the time that never comes, though. Grounding myself, focusing on my pets, pacing, cleaning, listening to music, whatever it takes, really, to get my mind off of it. Usually, for me, I need to stay inside, though. For other addicts that I've met, taking a walk around the park can be helpful, though I've found that to be risky, personally.

Stay safe. <3

@monateru21 Yep, I've experienced that! What's worked best for me in the past has been to distract myself by binge watching a Netflix series in bed until the urge passes.
