@imtheinvisibleman I'm not a therapist, but on the other hand no therapist has replied yet.

It seems to me that therapy has costs and benefits. The costs can include money, your time (both in therapy sessions and following up), and possibly disruption to your lifestyle and relationships. The benefits can range from gaining a better understanding of yourself, which might be generally life-enhancing, to removing some psychological barrier that's holding you back in life, such as depression.

For example, someone who is rich and has a lot of free time might have therapy twice a week for twenty years in order to understand themselves better. Someone else might have just four therapy sessions in total and by doing that overcome depression. Many, many people come in between.

So my quick answer to your quick question would be that it's an individual cost-benefit analysis.

Maybe therapists here have a different view of it, though. It will be interesting to see.

@imtheinvisibleman

That is such a great question! There isn't a clear cut answer because it depends on the individual and there are so many answers to this. Some of the main reasons a person might consider making an appointment for therapy are:
* To help treat and cope with mental health issues
* Personal growth
* Emotional issues due to circumstances happening in their lives or experiences they've had before.
* Traumatic experiences
* Issues that impact work and relationships
* Life changes and/or transitions (relocating, becoming a parent, breakups etc)
* Having a safe space to talk to a mental health professional!

I hope that answers your question!
