Dealing with loss
Loss seems to be a recurring topic in my life. I lost my Mom 5 years ago and it still feels fresh. I lost a baby 3 years ago. I lost my grandma 2 years ago. I feel like this pattern is never ending as it’s a part of life. Leads me to thinking how much loss can one person take before it’s too much? How do you grow and live a happy fulfilling life if it’s continuously plagued by death?
@egghead71 I am sorry for your losses. It sounds like it must be rough to cope with.
For me loss is not something I focus on, I think in part because I have come to accept loss as part of life. When I lost dad it really hit home that I was going to be there someday. I started to reinvent my life and focus on what I could do to make this world a better place. For me it is volunteering and helping other people. Everyone finds their own inner fulfillment.
I guess for me it comes down to do I want to focus on the part of the glass that is empty or do I want to be grateful for the part of the glass that is full. For me, gratitude makes me feel like a contented person.
This self help guide on grief has helped me https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php
Also a youtube video by Padraig O'Morain on Mindful Acceptance reminds me to accept the things I cannot change.
Hope you find the support you are looking for.
