Need some help getting to sleep

I always have a hard time setting an appropriate schedule for sleep, because what ends up happening is: I set a sleep schedule, I go to bed at the scheduled time. And I'm tired so restlessness isn't the problem. The problem is that there is a pain in my chest (from loneliness and sadness) that always appears when I try to sleep. I end up staying up thinking about the emotions and situations that caused the pain.

Is there any way I can avoid this emotional pain that prevents me from sleeping at bed time?
