FAQ 7cups online therapy #2 w/ Stacy Overton PhD
Member: Hello I am a new member and I just have been feeling very depressed and emotional and need some type of support system minus the judgement.
StacyOvertonPhD Hello! Welcome to cups! This is a wonderful place to find additional support. The best way to find support (and hopefully nonjudgmental support) is to get involved. You can talk to a trained listener or join one of our regular forums. If you feel like you need additional support you can always sign up to talk to one of the therapists. We are all licensed professionals and are here to help any way we can. Stacy Want more personalized guidance? Check out my profile.
Member: My long term girlfriend of three and a half years broke up with me a few weeks ago. I am still sad about it and love her, but one of the many reasons she broke up with me was because she said I don't understand people. She said I don't understand other's point of view and I do not try to understand others. I thought I understood her and other people's feelings, but apparently she said I didn't and don't. My question: how does one become socially aware and not take life so seriously?
StacyOvertonPhD Thank you so much for reaching out! I can imagine you are feeling sad and hurt after a breakup and then having someone give you negative feedback.
One thing I would caution against: it's a great idea to try to objectively look at who you are and want to improve areas (we should ALL do that at times!), but hearing negative feedback from one person doesn't always make it true. If you truly feel that you aren't able to interact or convey emotion and you want to work on that; it's a great idea but consider that it might have been said in anger or resentment and you might be doing a GREAT job of conveying your feelings! Member: How do you cope with severe depression, which drives you to extremes, for instance, thinking a certain way every time you cross a bridge, or think about how certain utensils could be used in the wrong harmful manner. I'm just wondering what one would do should the thoughts arrive at unexpected times.
StacyOvertonPhD It sounds like you are really struggling with a lot of different symptoms resulting from depression. Have you ever talked to someone about this ongoing (regularly?). Symptoms of depression are incredibly difficult but they can often be successfully treated with the right person to talk to. Stacy Want more personalized guidance? Check out my profile.

I want to ask the rate of therapy when I try I need therapy it starts asking my card details. I mean it should be we can check therapist profiles and select what we feel is good after checking the rates also. I am not sure how we can know the rate of particular therapist so we can decide affordability
Hi @tealOak9957 - the therapy rate is $150 per month so that is why a credit card is required. Some insurance plans will cover online therapy at 7cups.
You should be able to see therapist's profile pages. Here is a description of therapy at 7cups by Lisa, a counselor and the clinical director of the 7cups online therapy program:
"the 7 Cups Online Therapy Sub-Community is a warm, encouraging, and safe space to be where you are free from judgment and we encourage you to share! We want to be able to encourage therapist involvement, answer questions to provide emotional support and develop healthy coping skills and learn more about mental health and 7 Cups Online Therapy. The vision is that this is going to be a safe and open space for all. We want it to be a kind and welcoming space where members, listeners and therapists can get involved. We have no expectations of members, listeners and therapists but to follow the 7 Cups Community Guidelines and to support one another. Want more personalized guidance? Check out my profile."
Hope that helps. soulsings
Okay on this rate how many sessions I can take? And what's the duration of session
@tealOak9957 here is an explanation by one of the therapists
7cups is a message-based platform for psychotherapy. You are free to message your therapist anytime you want to and as often as you would like. The therapists will read your messages and respond once or twice a day from Monday to Friday. If your therapist is online, you can also engage in live chat. The number and size of the messages may vary depending on the conversation. The platform is a safe space to discuss what is going on in your mind. The messages will be completely confidential.
