Fearful Avoidant behavior or just not compatible?
I have a Fearful Avoidant Attachment style and I find that I have anxious, as well as aviodant behaviors. I feel anxious a lot in relationships, especially when feeling ignored or rejected, as well as aviodant, for the same reasons. I have this friend I've been talking to for about 3 weeks now? She's really sweet, but I've felt like she's been kinda not into me recently? I just feel these vibes that she doesn't really like me as much, and she doesn't reach out first anymore ( or at least these last few times she hasn't ). I really get this vibe that she isn't into me anymore, and I feel like if I didn't reach out to her, she'd probably never reach out to me. It's sad, because we were just fine before. To be honest, we never were THAT combatable as friends, personality wise. We don't really have too many things in common, and I'm not as chill with her than, maybe other friends. But even then, we could have alright conversations? Maybe we're drifting because we don't really have too much in common? Maybe it's something I did? Like, right before stuff between us got weird, I asked her if she had feelings for me. I asked her nicely because she was pretty affectionate (would ask for cuddles and she'd call me pretty and stuff) and I felt like she might. I asked because I'm straight and I didn't want to lead her on or anything. She told me she didn't, and that she's just very affectionate. I apologized for asking her and everything ended well, or I thought it did. Because everything's different now? Or maybe it isn't, and it's just my fearful avoidant attachment style talking? Maybe when I asked her if she liked me, she became to feel annoyed by me or something, and now she doesn't like talking as much? For whatever reason, I feel so rejected by her, and I want to slow down contact, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea? What if this is all just my fearful avoidant attachment style talking? What do you guys think?
@lemontea113 I am not really an expert on relationships so I hesitate to give advice.
If I was in this situation I would try to stop expecting anything to be happening and just try to be there in the moment. Sometimes that is not easy wheh we are lonely and really crave a realtionship.
One thing I learned is there is rarely any certainty and constant quality in a relationship that I have had. They keep changing. Many people view friendship as something that is not real serious. It can be hard to find someone that wants to make a commitment. Even suggesting commitment can scare some people away.
Hope you get the support you are looking for.
