Help please 🙏🏽 I'm new to 7 cups
I'm at a loss & idk what to do....
Can anyone help me with how to open up the communication with my boyfriend of almost 2 years? He will let something bother him & not talk to me about it or sometimes at all & then just explode & bring up things that I done that bother or bothered him. He consistently interrupts me, so I feel like I'm not being heard or my feelings & opinions aren't valid.

Welcome to the 7cups community! 😃
It's hard living in a relationship when the other person does not open up or lets their anger out on you . It can make you feel very lonely in the relationship. 💙 Do you feel that there are things he might have suppressed or that he might have never learned to express his emotions?
Have you ever tried to tell him how much it hurts you not being able to help because he does not talk?

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling frustrated and unsure about how to address the communication issues with your boyfriend. Opening up healthy and effective communication is crucial for maintaining a strong and understanding relationship. Here are some suggestions to help you navigate this situation:
Firstly, it's important to find the right time and place to have a conversation with your boyfriend. Look for a calm and neutral setting where both of you can have an uninterrupted discussion. Avoid bringing up sensitive topics when either of you is tired, stressed, or distracted, as this can hinder productive communication.
When you do talk, make sure to express your concerns openly and honestly. It's crucial to clearly communicate your feelings and concerns without placing blame or being accusatory. Use "I" statements to express how his behavior makes you feel and emphasize the impact it has on the relationship. For example, you could say, "I feel unheard and invalidated when you consistently interrupt me, and it's affecting our ability to communicate effectively."
Encouraging active listening is also important. Stress the importance of giving each other undivided attention and genuinely trying to understand each other's perspectives. Request that your boyfriend allow you to express your thoughts and feelings without interruption, and ask for his commitment to actively listen and validate your experiences.
Furthermore, create a safe and non-judgmental space for your boyfriend to share his concerns and feelings. Let him know that you genuinely want to understand his perspective and work together to find solutions. Assure him that you value his input and are committed to fostering open and honest communication.
Remember, building effective communication takes time and effort from both partners. Be patient with each other as you navigate this process, and consider seeking the help of a couples therapist or relationship counselor if you find that the issues persist or become overwhelming.
Write him a letter and explain everything that you feel.
he won’t have an opportunity to interrupt you, and you would get your point across.
it’s difficult to change patterns of behavior, and your boyfriend probably has this pattern for a while now. And maybe he also struggles with being the way he is, but is also afraid to share with you how he feels.
maybe you could ask him to write you a letter in return and express how he really feels about it all?
:)
