I hate being recorded on cameras and taking pictures or just looking at my reflection in general and It’s been like this for me for quite a while now and it’s also sometimes forced on me like having to get on zoom calls or doing ID’s being recorded or having a picture is just something I despise because I hate looking at myself and everytime I’m in a position where I have to it makes me uncomfortable I think I might have a condition would someone be able to tell what it is or what I’m going through or experiencing.

@TerryTHEwonderer I struggle with this too. Although I'm sure for different reasons. I think the next step is to talk to a doctor or other health professional. I really hope you get help with this, gives you a giant festive tiny hug ❤❤

@TerryTHEwonderer

Your message is over one year old. Does the problem still exist?

For hating your image in the mirror I would think of at least two explanations:

The first is low self-esteem. I've had problems with it myself. I believe when we are born we are strangers to this world, and those who should teach us how we should love ourselves are our parents. But what if they fail?... Or maybe they were not taught it, too? With my therapy, I observed how my attitude to my face in the mirror slowly changed, from insecurity to acceptance.

Another situation when we tend to dislike ourselves (including our face in the mirror) is when we were mentally or physically abused, failing to protect ourselves, due to being unable or too helpless. Or when we were forced to act actually against our will and values.
