Seeking Hopeful Advice on Marriage Counseling

Myself and my wife have been married 4.5 years and separated for the last 18 months. Right now over the last week or so have started the process of divorce but she would like to resolve several issues that are still lingering before ultimately moving to make our separation permanent. The important detail here is I have been the one I feel that has caused deep feelings of fear and anxiety in my partner and have been the one to initiate divorce. I am open to resolving the conflict but also hoping to establish a deeper dialogue that I have not had with my partner in a very long time. The hope is that with this site and maybe a therapist we can come together both in communicating our challenges and providing unique input of our individual sides to come to a solution; and also communicate independently of each other hoping to see where the disconnect is being created by having the pieces combined from an external source.

Im new here and seeking more or less just something or anything to help with this situation

@Masonimal I found this book to be magic for my relationship troubles. It’s about YOUR change so it’s something for YOU to read, that is, it’s not a couples therapy book. But if you change you, change your way of communicating with your partner you can transform the relationship. Not a quick read, but not hard to understand. Takes an open mind. Takes a lot of practice before it can be useful. “Feeling Good Together” by Dr. David Burns.
