how ON EARTH do you forgive yourself. seriously

hi everyone, 19F here. I kinda don’t have the emotional energy to get into the nitty gritty details but just know I did a terrible thing a few years ago. I sent a really mean, cruel, not to mention completely unprompted text. Now back then a couple days after it happened I did apologize and the person forgave me.

But I can’t forgive myself for maliciously hurting someone like that and also totally shattering their perception of me. this was someone I could’ve potentially had a beautiful romantic relationship with if I wasn’t a total mess

That situation is over and done thank goodness and there’s nothing I need to do anymore since I did the right thing by apologizing back then, but forgiving myself is the hardest part of anything. Because you control yourself yk? Whenever I look in the mirror I just see this person who’s done all these awful things and screwed up a lot of things for myself and others. And I could’ve just… not done those things. so it’s very very frustrating

also I’m offering a hug to anyone who’s reading this who may need one right now!!! 🫂🫂 hug hug to all of you. if you ever feel like a bad person I understand exactly what you mean… let’s all get through this together okay?

Thank you for this post!

Everyone makes mistakes in life—no one is perfect. We face tough times that can be so overwhelming they make us feel really stressed. When that happens, we might react out of stress instead of what we truly feel or think. Sometimes, it’s easier to ask someone else for forgiveness than to forgive ourselves for something we did that’s unlike us. Forgiving ourselves can be difficult, but it’s an important step to take.
