Hi as we start the school year I am hopeful it will better than last year for me and my daughter. Do to a recent breakup I am not able to find enough support to even go out on a date. No family near by and my last friend that lived near to me moved away. I lost my family and friends and now feel terrible for my daughter as it’s hard to find play dates because who is really going to leave their daughter with guy for hours and or even over night. At least when I was in a relationship females trusted the other female, that is gone now.

Hi there,

I am so sorry to hear this and I know a few single fathers both professionally and personally. It'll take time to adjust to being a single father especially with meeting new friends. I think that when you build connections that it'll be easy for others to be more trusting. Trust is earnt and it takes time but you will get there. One step at a time. What about joining a parenting group or helping out at the school?

There is time and try not to lose hope because it will happen it'll be a process and one that will take time but one that if you trust in the process it'll happen hopefully sooner than you think!

Hey it's scary being alone with no trusted peers around you sometimes but I hope things get better for you. All it takes is being trustworthy and learning to trust others. It will be worth it in the long run. Take some time to know people at first but I'm sure things will work out for you. You just have to find the right people. Were here for you💜

@losthope1967 I am sorry you are finding being a single dad difficult. It is not easy being a parent under the best of conditions is not easy.

I know that play dates would be nice for your daughter. I am not sure what the solution that would work for you, but what about after school activities? If your daughter has friends, then maybe she could go to their house. If you need to reciprocate maybe a play date at a skating rink or play park like Chuckie Cheese might work if money is not an issue. Another idea is a playdate with multiple friends.

There is a whole support system for "single parent support groups" if you google that, maybe you can get other ideas.

Another option is to spend time with your daughter playing a computer game or going to the park. Many parks have swings and playgrounds and sometimes people can meet informally there.

7cups may also be a good place for you to get support. I hope you get the support you need.
