Hey guys! It can be tough to say goodbye to people or objects, especially if you are attached to them. For me, it is tough for me to say goodbye to people or things because I quickly get close to them. However, I always cope with it and move on. What about you guys? How good are you at saying goodbye? How do you cope after saying goodbye? I would love to hear your thoughts ❤️

I’d say I’m terribly bad at it. I’m still having a good friendship with my exes that my current partner jealous of them. I still using stuffs from my high school because I’m attached to them and the story behind them. My metal water bottle since 2013 was looking like a scrap metal, it can’t even stand properly but I still using it because of the sentimental value. I can consider myself as a hoarder too because I’m keeping a lot of things because I don’t want to let them go -_-

But recently I had my first real heartbreak and it hits me hard. I guess one of the reason is because how loyal I am to something/someone. I can’t let things go. It’s actually not very healthy because nothing last forever, I have to learn to let go and learn to get used to changes in life.

I bought new water bottle recently to replace my old one (but I still using the old one lol). I replaced my phone wallpaper that I’ve used since I bought this phone. I tried to change my wardrobe into new outfits and keep out the old ones. I’m learning to let go of attachment to material.

Ha! It’s quite a long and personal answer. Thanks for reading 😆

@Desmynn6789 The thing about me is by the time I say goodbye, people have already crossed several lines that hurt me so when I do say goodbye, I feel like nothing much about it. Like saying goodbye to someone boarding me on the plane. I still hold good memories and still care for them deeply and try to help out, but it becomes this sense of calmness, if they are valuable or good people I keep them as friends otherwise I cut them off.

I’m a strange mix of not very materialistic and very sentimental, I love things that I own cause they have stories and people connected to it, but they have no value to anyone beyond me. Quite a lot of things I have are trinkets.

@Fangirling999 Like the only things I have ever stolen in my life was a book that I loved from the library cause I wanted to keep it longer and a shirt that belonged to my college boyfriend just before he left. They would be useless to everyone else.

Hello 👋

I've gotten better at saying goodbye to people and things. I do save item's mostly from my kids when they where young. I try to store them in shoe boxes 📦 . People come and go I've had failed relationships that I've had to work through the pain of letting go. History and memories for me sometimes get me stuck.

@southernladee

Nice to hear that you've gotten better to say goodbye to people and things. For many people letting go is not easy and I believe it's even harder when we know we could have done something different. I hope you can forgive yourself so that you will not continue to feel stuck.

It must be nice to have a few items from your kids in a special box and look into it and relive the wonderful moments you had at that time.

Pretty sh*t at it, definitely considering that I've never had to say goodbye because no one ever cared for me enough for a relationship to develop.

Feeling no one cares enough about you hurts. You're welcome here and we do care about you. I hope you soon will meet someone who shows you how much they care and want to be in a relationship with you. 💙

Hi

Goodbyes are really sad for me. They leave with with intense stress and everlasting memories. Be it my fav objects or people. I do get over objects by getting better objects but people NO. When I come across triggers end up crying. I don't know what is meant by coping up exactly? If it means to move on happily, I never do that. If it means to survive, yes that I manage.
