Setting firm boundaries with my family

Hi:

This is a two part story

A. I have a blog brand and I have a social media page for that brand. My family members have followed me on there and I got a long with some of them.

B. I am the black sheep of a family that happens to be very toxic and I started going no contact with them a year and a half before the pandemic began.   I also started going no contact with other family members who I got along with because they were are not supportive of my decision to go no contact.  Instead, they just wanted to guilt trip me.

-During the pandemic, I had lots of emotions and situations that I had stuffed down inside and I ended up lashing out at one of my sisters for hurting me 4 years earlier.  Neither of my sisters were supportive. Instead, they blamed it on me for being sick in the head.

- When I was trying to set boundaries on my page, they managed to make fun of me by saying "That's hilarious," and then posting the screenshot of the mean things I said to her.  So I ended up staying away from my social media page for 4 years.

-However, I decided that I was not going to let them control me anymore and began calling them out indirectly through my page without using their names.  Suddenly they are reaching out to me in emails and seeing like they are so eager to talk to me.

Unfortunately

  • None of them have apologized to me
  • They didn't tell me that my dad died when it happened but had the nerve to tell me 7 months later
  • They have a history of inviting everyone in my family but me to things because they are worried about how I might act
  • My mom has a history of baiting people so she can get a reaction out of them.  Being that I have a short temper, I have enaged in reactive abuse with her.   However,  I have also engaged in reactive abuse with other people in my family
  • They had the nerve to email my work email
  • They also have a history of leaving me out of other things like on important information

So I emailed all of them to called them out by setting boundaries and them blocking them.

@Summershy

It's important to set boundaries, to protect us even when it's our own family.

I'm so sorry you are treated in this way!

@Amanda84

Before fully blocking and moving their emails to spam, I set those firm boundaries.    However, I noticed that no one of them responded or said "I'm sorry."   At the same time, I didn't really give them the chance either so...
