Hi I just joined this community.

I wushed to ask if anyone here is or has done emdr and if you usyally continue with it even through major depressive episodes (for instance right now I've been unsble to work for 2wks, I'm on medication change and very unwilling to get better.) I'm not sure if emdr can be helpful or otherwise right now. I will, if course discuss this with therapist tomorrow but thought I'd put my thoughts here.

@anonyLemon4233

Hello there!

I am glad you are taking initiative to find other ways to support your mental health! Lucky for you I wrote a post about EMDR with some helpful resources which you can find here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/TraumaSupport_60/Archives_481/EMDR_254028/

I hope this helps,

Ocean

@oceanwaves16 thank you for link.

I have been doing emdr for 8months now. Still on same memory.

I was in better place when I started but as now am in depressive episode I'm doubting if it helps me to work on ptsd as am exhausted just existing and emdr is very tiring.

I wanted to see if anyone found it was of benefit during bad depressive relapses or they waited to get better to resume emdr

During EMDR, you can feel worse before you feel better. You are reliving the memories right? So it’s gonna make you anxious or depressed. Eventually the therapy will either work or maybe another approach is better for you

This is my last go to approach.

Unless I find a way to try TMS
