Trauma Community forums Daily check-in Thread - 6th January 2017
It's been good to see these new check in threads are starting to be made known to you all and that perhaps in time, you will find these check in threads a useful space just to share whats happening for you, how you feel, what you have managed to do to ensure you look after your self care needs, what you are striving to achieve, what your latest accomplishments are :) What was the last thing you can rememver that made you feel safe, or give you a feeling of comfort when you needed it? Living with the effects of trauma is never easy, so let's lessen each others' burdens as best we can.

My 2 cats help me feel safe, because they always remind me of the present not the past.
@raychascotch That is great that they do Rayca. Its so important to sometimes anchor ourselves to the here and now and get that feeling of safety that we so need. It can be so hard when triggered into past memories and feelings to stay grounded and pets are wonderful for helping to keep our focus in the present day and to find comfort in doing so
The one thing I am striving for is to sleep in s bed like a Normal! person. I am getting to old to sleep on coach.
@raychascotch
I can relate to that, sleeping on couch can be so much easier. I sleep on a bed most of the time except when I'm going through a rough patch. Always found making my own safe routine made it easier to sleep. Like playing music and even sleeping with the light on and making my bed super comfy. Piling clothes on one side of the bed so it can only fit me. There are 2 trains of thoughts about this some say don't feed the fear , face it and prove the fear wrong.
While others believe like I do that it can be done in stages and it's just about finding what works for you.
Hope you can reach your goal soon.
How is it that I think about the night I was raped in front of my girlfriend and become aroused
@conscientiousSpruce2090 I'm so confused
