Traumatic Experiences Community Check-In June 24, 2020

The topic for todays check in is Hope. Many of us lose hope in our lives and its a shame. Whether that hope is lost due to ongoing traumatic experiences, lost of a loved one, or childhood trauma, there is always the opportunity to gain that back. The only question in doing so is how?

All of us encounter challenging times in our lives where there does not seem to be a way out. The way is there however, we just need the faith and courage to pursue that path through the darkness into the light at the end of the tunnel.

Below are some tips to help us along the way:

Reflect upon every amazing thing we have accomplished in our lives. No matter what we are currently facing, always remember the previous accomplishments and understand that we are entirely capable of working our way through it. We may just find the impossible is in fact a possibility. Learning to alter our mindset will often allow us to see all of these amazing things.

Surround yourself with optimism. We sometimes come across people who persistently see the bright side of things. These individuals will strive to see the good in every situation. They will always have a smile and a positive attitude. Finding a group of those people and soaking up the positive emotions from them will help restore lost hope.

Allow inspiration in. Our faith could be a great source of inspiration. Reading books, watching shows or movies, and listening to music that is up-lifting can create positive vibes which help us bounce back from hopelessness.

Spending time in nature can be an uplifting activity. From rainbows and waterfalls to flowers and mountains, nature can provide a wondrous escape from our sadness. When you see whats possible, you realize that youre capable of remarkable things too.

Being courageous is a huge step towards regaining hope. We can give ourselves the chance to find our way through our challenges. Take that first step and then the next. We will eventually get to the opening at the end of that dark tunnel.

If we truly want to find hope all we need to do is look for it. It is always there even if we deny it. Many of us have lost it and though there are legitimate reasons for it, there are no reasons for not fighting to get it back. As long as we are breathing we have the opportunity to reverse a downward spiral. If there is one thing this world loves it is a great comeback story. Now I will ask these questions of you today:

1. What is one way you have tried to keep hope through your struggles?

2. What would you like to see at the end of the tunnel?

3. How are you feeling today?

4. What topic would you like to see me cover in a future check-in?

As always I wish you all a greater today than yesterday in hopes of a better and brighter tomorrow!!!!!

@Understandingempath

I love this post. Such amazing suggestions! However, as a positive person, I do want to emphasize allowing your positive person to be real. I have to come to 7 cups because my friends expect me to bring the positive and cheer them up. That is my favourite thing to do. But it also means I've never been able to share my struggles, till I found the anonymity of 7 cups. But I love your suggestions, particularly the nature one! Hope is always there.

@FigureskatingEquestrian

That positive person is there for you and they are real my friend. It could be a coworker or a trusted friend or even a listener here on this platform. Surely there is someone real who can be that beacon of hope and positivity. My PMs are always open for you in the event you're feeling down for any reason. I love how uplifting you have been for everyone in this forum. Thank you for participating in this check-in.

1.What is one way you have tried to keep hope through your struggles?

I try to maintain positive thinking as much as possible! I tend to over analyze worst-case scenarios, so when I catch myself doing that, I try to flip it. What would be the best case scenario? I then don't let myself talk bad about that hope!

2. What would you like to see at the end of the tunnel?

Financial stability and my loved ones happy with me. :)

3. How are you feeling today?

I feel much better than yesterday! Nervous about all the things I have to do before I start my new job, but happy I have a job to look forward to!

4. What topic would you like to see me cover in a future check-in?

Making mistakes!

Ah we all make mistakes my friend. To err is human so this is a wonderful topic to discuss further next week. I do hope you enjoy your new job and that it brings that stability you seek. I love best case scenarios and come to find that my own don't live up to the reality of things. Reality has shown me some true best case scenarios as of late and I hope it does the same for you moving forward. Thank you for participating in this check-in.

Self blame is a huge struggle for individuals suffering from traumatic experiences and I will cover that topic going forward. I am glad to hear you are seeing the bright side of things. This is a huge step towards ensuring a more positive future. It is also wonderful that you desire to help others who are going through similar struggles as yourself. Sometimes it is difficult to remain hopeful but with some encouragement from outside sources that hope will not be lost. Thank you for participating in this check-in and I hope you have a wonderful day my friend.

Thank you very much for your time ,for your reply and for your kind words .

In order to not create a misunderstanding I have to say that self blame topic is not my struggle at the moment but it is a reminder that as humans sometimes with all the knowledge we have , with all the books and helpful informations we have ,with all the support we might have still some things, some questions related to self blame , crosses our minds .
I'm looking forward to self blame topic so I can continue because today is Hope Day and I would like to leave it that way 😊

Sending towards all of you hugs and positivity
