Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-In Friday April 6th 2018
Good morning survvivors, one and alle.
Sooo... Child Abuse Awareness Month, this is a tough one indeed. There have been several new forum threads, and most of a week of some hardcore tough issues being discussed in the Check-Ins, it certainly can be overwhelming. Although it has been hard, I have been learning a great amount about myself in reading them as well as alle your replies. Sometimes I learn so many new things of myself it acn be a mite suffocating. When I think "Hej I'm one toasted cookie" I remember a short scene from The Simpsons cartoon when a Dr is telling Mr Burns how he has every disease known to man +dozens more, he follows through by explaining that some how they are alle in perfect balance. Calling it "Three Stooges Syndrome", he explains how the germs Mr Burns has are trapped, like when alle Three Stooges are trying to get through a door at the same time an get stuck. Yep lol I can Identify with that.
So with alle this going on this week and alle month, how are you doing with it? Tough stuff to face indeed but have you learned anything new about yourself? Do share if you feel comfortable.
If it is too much to dwell upon at the moment how about a basic hello, you're here please do say hi. We so love to know how everyone is doing. This is a safe place, and it belongs to you alle,take the liberty to use it.

@Raveninthelabrynth - Love the Simpsons reference.
So this month has been really hard lredy, even just seeing the phrase "child abuse" is difficult, my instinct is just to run away from the topic, but mindfulness keeps me anchored safely in the present. I have been doing a lot more self care, so there are definitely positives out of this (beyond the obvious ones of more awareness and education on this he topic and more expression for us)
Beyond that initial anxiety, it honestly makes me want to write and write and write, but there's so much I want to write about that I do not know where to start, and so I haven't been writing much of anything. Funny, right? My brain wants to say so much that it just kind of gives up even trying. Also, my birthday is this weekend and I don't know how I feel about that either, but it always makes me think of birthdays I had as a child, some good memories but a lot of poor ones. Lots of difficult feels lately all together. Well, that's it from me for now. Later everyone.
@wontsleepwontwake
Hey wontsleep, I'm sorry this month has been difficult for you with barely a week in. I really hope things can pick up for you! When it comes to your birthday this weekend, why don't you go treat yourself and make some happier memories to look back on for next year? Go out to a movie, go buy yourself something nice, go out to eat at a special restaurant, just treat yourself for the day and celebrate you. On that note, it's about 1am for me, so I need to head to bed. But before I go, one little message for you 💜:

@wontsleepwontwake once that initial shock wears off, we get to work.
Well done hon, there is no perfect way to face things, but to pick yerself back up and get busy solving problems is the best response.
@Raveninthelabrynth
not sure, whether it is right to post it here but i feel like getting it off my chest today because i feel confident and strong enough.
also not sure whether it is trauma, abuse or not. as a young teen i was placed into situations with 2 very close family members who did not behave in the right way, nothing really happened because i was fast enough to escape an escalation but from that day i knew i will never be safe again at home and i was not. unfortunately there was no help but the contrary from my mother's side and my real father was not there to protect me. the awful thing was that my step father was the only one who was nice to me before so when that happened i had nobody anymore.
@amiableTurtle9543 - *safe hugs offered* we often wonder if it is trauma or not ourselves, but whatever it was, it definitely left a long-term impact on you, and that is what is really important, healing from that impact and finding that sense of safety again. We in the trauma community are here for you while you are figuring it out. <3
@wontsleepwontwake
thanks, i like the safe hugs.
