Hello👋I'm new to 7cups and I wanted to introduce myself, my username is Cali13 I'm a 45 yo woman who has been thru a lot in my life. It started out by being born to a self-serving father and BPD, drug addicted mother. At the young age of six my father left me and my 10 yo sister with my mother for another woman. My mother subsequently left us for benders for days weeks and even as long as a month at a time without food, money or any adult supervision. Once in 3rd grade I was in my classroom for lunch because I NEVER completed my homework and never had lunch money so I couldn't eat anyway. There was another boy there as well, he was older by a couple of years but in my same grade. He was rough around the edges and I could tell he had a hard life I also knew he was part of a system where he was bussed in from the inner city. My teacher had to use the bathroom so she left us alone, he jumped on me so fast throwing me down pulling my skirt up and panties down and pulled his penis out and began to penetrate me saying how he was going to f_ck a white girl. The teacher came back in and screamed for help they pulled him off of me but just left me lay there crying. They didn't offer any help and when they tried to call my parents no one ever answered. To this day neither my dad or my mom knows aboutt the assault. The school never offered any support either. I remember my teacher sayingto the principal oh well she's just gonna end up on welfare anyway when she grows up. This incident was just a drop in the bucket for my life and that's why I seeking help. One person should not have so many bad things happen to them throughout their entire life, hense I recognize a huge pattern. Now I need to learn what I'm doing to continue the pattern... Any suggestions are appreciated.

@Cali13

No, definitely. One single person shouldn't go through so much. I'm so sorry for the way you had to grow up and for what happened at school. It's crazy to me that no one offered any help. Welcome to the 7 cups trauma community, I hope it will provide a little help ❤️

(whispered suggestion: add a TRIGGER WARNING before writing about sensitive topics like eating disorders, self harm, suicide/murder or sexual abuse, so that other members can decide if they feel like reading or if it's best for them not to)

1. I'm okay! Wavering between feeling okay and feeling epic. A good cardio workout always does this to me. I'm pretty proud of myself for not pushing too hard while my knees are injured. Instead I just moved my body in a way that felt good, stopped when it became too painful, and started up again when I felt it was okay. I'm grateful that I don't feel I didn't work hard enough.

2. The typical things smiley I'm grateful jury duty hasn't made me feel anxious yet today. I was really worried it would because I have social anxiety, don't do well in crowds, don't do well when I have to stray from routine, and don't know if the case will be triggering.

3. I don't know if there's a song that makes me unconditionally happy. But there are quite a few that make me happy. Yet I feel kinda ashamed about the music I listen to even though there's a large number of people who share my tastes so I don't wanna list any today

4. This feels like a very existential question! My answer is no. I think I have certain freedoms. But truly free? No. I don't think it's possible to be truly free in today's world. It's impractical for me to live my ideal free life. What's holding me back is anxiety about getting a job and moving out despite my situation (and being financially unstable as an independent adult). But if we're talking about being free of mental health issues, then yeah a lot of what holds me back is in my head. Feeling like I'm not good enough, an imposter, chasing a dream, don't deserve to be free / am just destined to be sick, fear of not knowing who I am, being a "nobody" with nothing important to give. Some of it is also my environment. So yeah, to sum up, what holds me back is 90 % my anxiety.

@Lexloveslife Hi there my friend! I'm so happy to hear that you were feeling okay and that is wonderful that you had a good cardio workout! That is good that you didn't over do it and I hope your knees feel better soon! You are giving me the motivation I need to start my exercising again! I have the hardest time with motivation! I have social anxiety too so I'm super proud of you for going out there and handling your jury duty! That is totally okay that you don't want to list any songs! I really like your answer on if you feel like your "free" or not. You are very insightful my friend! Thank you for sharing this with me and checking in. Have a lovely night!
