Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-In: Sunday 23rd February
hello my lovely community. happy sunday, hope this week treated you well.
for today i thought we could have a little relaxing talk about positivity and gratitude.
lately i have been trying to show more gratitude in my life and it has definitely made a huge impact on the way i view the world, although it often is hard to see the positive in negative experiences.
so for today i would like to ask you...
Who is someone you are grateful for? (could be a co-worker, someone who held the door for you, literally anyone)
What is something you are grateful for? (could be a place, a thing,...)
I will go for it as well! I am grateful for my family and for nature

@AveryLove
It may sound weird and self-focused, but I want to say that today I am grateful for my parts, all of them. Even those who are angry and difficult to deal with. Thank you system.
I am grateful for the sunshine, for the flowers, for yoga, for crisis helplines and ambulances.
@admaiorasemper
You don't sound self centered at all, I think how you all organized to survive trauma is amazing, even though some parts might have learnt dysfunctional behaviors they do what they can, and I believe showing love and being grateful for them is a huge success for your personal growth. Sometimes it's way easier to love each piece of ourselves then the entire person as a whole. I think your parts really need to hear and feel your love more than anyone else
@GhostlyLilian
Thank you for your words
@admaiorasemper i totally agree with @GhostlyLilian.
its not self-centered to love all your parts, i think its really strong of you actually and inspiring that you are able to view these parts as beautiful - these parts make you the person you are!
so glad these are some things you are grateful for. i hope you have a lovely week ahead!
Someone I'm grateful for: online friend I'm chatting with, for making me feel less lonely
Something I'm grateful for: music, for always cheering me up
@Madaraismyspiritanimal hello! online friendships can be really great indeed, i am glad you were able to find some friends there. and music is definitely amazing (am listening to music right now even). Any specific genre you enjoy?
Hope you have a great week ahead.
@AveryLove
This friend in particular has made it feel a bit less hard to reach out, cause we talk about all sorts of things, pretty mundane sometimes. So I feel less bad when I reach out just being sad, if that makes sense.
Not really any specific genre, but mostly Japanese and Chinese artists
Someone I am grateful for is actually a bunch of people... the people on this site who keep me going when I feel like throwing away my progress, bring some sanity back into my irrational rambles, support me when I'm successful as well.
Something I'm grateful for: my cats, treadmills, the weather getting a teensy bit warmer, recovery websites and sub-forums, the lighthearted sites and forums as well
@Lexloveslife
I'm not a huge fan of hears but ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We will keep motivating you because we care, and you deserve that care
@Lexloveslife hello lex! i am so glad you are expressing gratitude for several people and that you have such a support system in your life. and yay for these things (and your cat!, whats its name?), they all are really special and things to be grateful for.
thank you for checking in! have a great week ahead.
Grinch mode: *turning green* I don't like that topic. People are scary not helpful. They need help and won't provide any. They hurt. Bad people. Baaaaaad baaaad people *angry child face* Grinch mode off.
Someone I'm grateful for: my aunt for giving me the opportunity to live with her and for trying to be helpful, even though she's not always the most helpful person. My brother for always loving me and being for a long time the only person who seemed not to hate me. My grandma who... ok she blamed me to get out of troubles for things she did/didn't do, but she told me stories when she put me to bed and taught me how to cook when no one else did, and at least she wasn't a person I was scared of when she entered the room. I'm grateful for a friend of mine, the one that graduated recently, because she always finds time to hear me and the right words to say. I'm grateful for another friend of mine because she really cares for me and tries to help my healing in any way she can. I'm grateful for my ex, poor boy, how much he went trough with me? And he still did everything he could to help me feel better and respect me.
Something I'm grateful for: nature. The earth. It's beauty and it's life. It can be vital and it can be cruel. It's majestic, it was there before us, before life itself and will exist after us and after life. It exists everywhere, inside and outside us, outside our area of knowledge, and it makes me sick to my stomach how much man feels in control and superior to nature, and how much we are abusing the little and delicate part that feeds us and keeps us alive. Either we'll understand and conform to nature, or it will wipe us away. Nature always wins.
@GhostlyLilian hello there. its okay if you dont enjoy that topic sometimes, its totally optional
although i am glad to hear that there happen to be so many people you mentioned you are feeling grateful for, even with some difficulties in these relationships.
i can totally agree with you on the fact that nature is something to show gratitude for, i mentioned that as well! i feel like often we tend to forget how beautiful it actually is and how we should treat it with much more respect than we are doing at the moment. we do not know how nature is going to look like in some decades, so i try to be grateful for what we still have left in this very moment. thank you for sharing!
hope you have a great week ahead.
