Been a good day. Got back the other day from going up the country with my mom to run an errand and visit a relative.

This relative has had it very hard but has been working very hard to overcome injustices of the past and reclaim her own life. I'm very proud of her!

@themainjane

Nice to meet you, too! :)

It's nice when women can do that. Is this something new for your family or it's just been a while?

Today was a little better. They had a big breakfast for our nurses cuz it's Nurses Week, and everything that was left got put in the break room, and there were scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, donuts, etc., so that was kinda disappointing cuz normally I would've had some of all of that. Instead I had a small thing of oatmeal and an apple. This whole situation is just disappointing and frustrating, but it wasn't as bad today.

Bee, the new changes sound difficult, but I'm so very proud of you!

You acknowledged how you felt, and accepted it, but you also realized it was much better today. Being able to find the positive is so amazing. 💙 I'm so glad you're sharing this journey and learning experience with us. :) You rock!

@Tryingtobefree98 Really sorry to hear that Free. Thats got to be really tough for you. What did you mean when you said about being sent back to the abusive situation? who by? Would you like some help to consider your options? Have you thought about planning, if you wish to leave the abusive situation - what things you may need to consider and plan for if you decide to try and break free of this again? Does anyone know about the situation your in, someone professional perhaps or a friend who could offer yiou the support you may need to escape this?

@dancingRainbow45 Hi I am doing okay. I think I may have c-PTSD. The name is not important, but it seems to fit my experience with how I've been reacting to things :( I've been in a partial program this week. I've felt super triggered by the program itself, but I feel like it is somehow helping me, so I'm trying to stick with it for now. I am really struggling with feeling loved by others and receiving affection due to a combination of rejection, social anxiety, trauma, and tbh bad luck. Today I cried in one of the groups in front of 10 people which I feel is a sign of progress, but at the same time I felt so lonely. Some people tried to say nice things, but it was in a clinical group setting, and I just really wanted someone to hold me close and tell me they love me. At the same time, I think the people who did offer a hug or kind words in a smaller way I felt like I sort of shifted away from because of the vulnerability, trauma, and trust issues.

@Daydreamer47 hey dreamer, good to hear from you smiley Does it kind of feel comforting to know that your experiences and feelings fit with the C-PTSD diagnosis? Sometimes labels are not whats important but more how you experience things but having said that, sometimes it can feel assuring and comforting to know that everything you are going through fits with a c-ptsd checklist of symptoms, and that its not you, that your not going mad, or crazy etc etc. It sounds like the group work is going well for you, even if its a bit tough at times. How did it feel crying infront of others? I know crying can often be seen by some Survivors of trauma as a weakness but crying to actually good for you and gives an outlet and expression for all those built up emotions and feelings. its tough when sometimes the setting in which you are getting support is clinical and perhaps shys away from giving physical contact such as a hug. Sometimes some people find this helps them to feel safe, whilst others dont wish for this at all. Everyone is unique and we all need a hug from time to time. I think your right too, even if we have support, or have people around us, sometimes we can still end up feeling alone. i guess learning to comfort yourself can help you feel more able to tolerate difficult emotionals and thoughts if physical contact or a hug is not there at the time when you feel the need for it. Perhaps following the group support you could give a friend a hug and find some comfort in that? Well done you though for committing to this group work, Thats a mssive thing to do so good on you smiley
