HI Y'all!!!! Hows it going today? How has the start of the week treated you?

Your are all amazingly strong people to have got this far. Surviving traumatic Experiences is no mean feat. You all have so much more strength than perhaps you realise. We too appreciate its tough sometimes to hang in there when the going gets tough. Healing is hard, its painful and difficult but well worth it in the end, to move to a life where you can feel a sense of safety and freedom from all that you carry. Be kind to yourself in that process, be patient and allow your healing to take its own natural course. Dont beat yourselves up when things perhaps are not going at the speed that you would like.

Let us know how you are, whats happening in your world, is your day good, bad, inbetween, better than yesterday. Hope you have a lovely day :)

It hasn't been too bad. I have therapy today, but I have someone going with me because I'm not looking forward to the subject matter and I need someone else to be there.

Meh... Found out that the DSM-V has a stricter definition than before of what "counts" as possible causes of PTSD, so since I've never been seriously physically injured, maybe I don't have "legitimate" PTSD? I've experienced sexual violence but that's not where I got my worst PTSD-like symptoms from. Oh well. I also found out that the psychologist who promised to finally get me into real therapy f...ed up so I'll have to wait even longer. And I've started to make a list of all the traumatic experiences I can remember, and now I'm remembering more and more and it's not pleasant to say the least frown - but hey, seems like I'm not dissociating then so that's something laugh

Ok, time for heart SELF CARE heart I guess lol

@hereigoagain Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur after someone goes through a traumatic event like combat, assault, or disaster. Most people have some stress reactions after a trauma. If the reactions don't go away over time or disrupt your life, you may have PTSD. After a trauma or life-threatening event, it is common to have reactions such as upsetting memories of the event, increased jumpiness, or trouble sleeping. It's normal to have upsetting memories, feel on edge, or have trouble sleeping after this type of event. At first, it may be hard to do normal daily activities, like go to work, go to school, or spend time with people you care about. But most people start to feel better after a few weeks or months. If these reactions do not go away or if they get worse, you may have Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The DSM criteria's are for ever changing and they have now included in the last DSM edition a section covering things that are more likely to come under the heading of complex ptsd. There is a move to have complex ptsd in a completely different section of its own. If trauma has left an impact on your life then this is what is important. The thing is, there are so many different traumatic experiences and it may be difficult to cover all of these under a definition.

I can appreciate that it must feel very hard to cope with memories that surface for you. I guess if memories are going to come out they will and if we try and push these down, people can often find they come out in different ways so sometimes the best thing to do, can be to work through them rather than ignore even though it can be very painful and difficult. I hope your therapy gets sorted out soon
