Child Abuse Awareness Month- YOU HAVE A VOICE!!!!

Good morning/afternoon or evening community
How are you all doing this morning? I hope everyone is doing as best as they can today! As you all know it is Child Abuse Awareness Month. So this is a perfect place to let each and everyone of us have a voice here.
So many of you here have had some shape or form of child abuse in your life. hugz
Over and over and over and.......................Who was there to save you? Who was there to stop that mean person doing those things to you? For many no one and I'm sorry for that. For some there was someone.
Child abuse is accross the globe and still going on now today. It is rising daily. (it is very hard for me to write on this today, but 1 know I can reach 1 person and help them know "they have a voice now")

So now it is today April 5 to most around the world- some the 6th or the 4th. Either way we are in today
Today most of us are not in the abuse we were back then. And for some you are hugz
How can we change this tho? How can we STOP the abuse accurring on us or to another child or person? How can we give less power to the abusers......????
1. Learn the facts and understand the risks. Realities - not trust - should influence your decisions regarding you or a child.
2. Minimize Opportunity - If you eliminate or reduce one-adult/one-child situations, you will dramatically lower the risk of sexual abuse for you or a child.
3. Talk About It - Children and yourself often keep abuse a secret, but barriers can be broken down by talking openly about it.
4. Stay Alert - Don't expect obvious signs when a child is being sexually abused. Signs are often there but you have to spot them.
5. Make a Plan - Learn where to go, who to call, and how to react.
6. Act on Suspicions. A child's wellbeing may depend on it. Even you if you feel unsafe act on it
7. Get involved If you are in a state of mind to do this join in programs that support awareness
Today I want this safe and welcoming place to be a place you have a voice. Use it-scream, cry, dance....Do whatever you need to. Please if you feel comfortable share whatever it is you need to with us all. Most of all. you are not your past. You are a "somebody" very important. You are unique

Im still reluctant to call it abuse but mabey thats what it really was. There was some real voilence amongst my brothers, and my dad used the belt on us. I had to get my younger siblings out of the way when my brothers started throwing things and picking things up to use as weapons. One of my brothers got thrown so hard into a wall by our oldest brother there was a person sized whole there for years. I felt very ignored by my mom and she would get so aggrivated with us and make us feel bad if we told her we need something. I got so desperately deppressed I asked for her help one day and she said she didnt have the time or energy for to help me, (during this time i was very close to sever self harm.) one day i told her about my brother abusing me and she just brushed it aside. When i finally found myself a counselor the staff asked if i had been emtionally abused and I said there was nothing wrong at home im just sad and confussed. Now I look back and while im still confussed I can see it was not healthy situation back home.
Sorry for long post
@Compassion21
HI Compassion good to see you
Sometimes(even me) have a hard time admitting to bad things and having a label on them. And this is ok. Oh dear hun that sounds horrible-Im so sorry this happened to you and your siblings. How I was raised it's ok to discipline a child but not to the point the person is angry and leaving marks. I too had to learn this as a parent the hard way. It sounds your siblings were just protecting themselves. But you cared so much for them to protect them. This was abuse in my eyes. Even as a parent who also didn't know how to discipline right. But now mine are almost grown and I learned personally the impact I had on them. Now I aim to discipline when I am in the right frame of mind. aaahhh mom is to be there and help you with your needs and stuff. I am very sorry she was not and it only aggitated her. Some times we cheerish/love our families so much we never dream of abuse in our own homes. And that is where you got confused hun. I do hope soon that you can trust in someone and share these things and come to see that it was abuse to you and your siblings. Also share here if you are feeling safe. Hugs many to you. Thank you for sharing this all. It was so brave of you to do.
