Happy Saturday every-amazing-one! I am really happy to hear from you once again. heart

How are you feeling today? :)

How has this week been for you? Do you have anything you would like to share about it? :)

I often deal with a lot of insecurities and negative thoughts about myself and I can only imagine how hard it may be for all of you. That is why I always try to be positive and remind you of how an amazing and strong and brave people you really are as often as I can because you are and you do definitely deserve it. :)

Of course I have a hard time believing things like this as well when people do tell me so I do understand that it has to be really hard for you as well. For this reason I have tried to develop methods to somehow incorporate some positivity about myself in my life, even if I have to just force it sometimes.

I do like my teddy bears, I have noticed that it helps for me if I can talk through things with them, using a teddy bear to kind of give a body to that otherwise really quite positive voice in my head that would otherwise get lost and make it heard helped with me a lot. Also something I try to do is write down compliments and just generally positive things that people say to me.

An other thing that I am trying to incorporate to my days is just positive self-talk. Not in any specific situation but just for the sake of it. Sometimes I take a five minute break for it. First it started quietly, just trying to say positive things to myself in my head and now when I got the chance I try to say it out as well or even try to say it into my own eyes, in the mirror, although that is still hard.

I mean, I will not lie, it is not easy, and sometimes I really just faking it in the hope of making it but it helps for me, so I though I might share with you and also just ask you, if you are feeling comfortable with it, to list some positive things about yourself here!

It can be anything, something you have done right lately, something you do like about yourself or even proud about. A compliment you have got lately. I would be really happy to hear it and just celebrate you for the amazing person you are! :)

Of course, just as always, all of the above questions and points are just optional, there is absolutely no pressure to answer any of those. If you would just like to say hi or just sit around here with us it would just as amazing as well, it always a pleasure to just have you around here with us. heart

@redmark

Decided to switch to my member account to post this time after reading this topic felt its more professional i respond as a member

im not feeling all that good today as it draws nearer, to the death of my mum. It's the 2 year anniversary and still hits home really hard, the only parent that ever cared for me.

My dad abandoned me put his new family first, what i went through growing up, is the biggest part of why i feel traumatized, why i struggle with relationships.

The anniversary is the 20th of this month and all i keep doing is breaking down to cry, im still struggling to move past the death, ive accepted it happened not angry at the healthcare anymore but i still cant move past it.Im just struggling, losing my dog came 11 months after losing my mum. This Quote you shared i always struggle to accept it when told that im loved that im amazing etc especially the you are beautiful one.

Hey there @NevaehRose *offering safe hugs*

It is really nice to see you around here! heart

I am really glad to hear that you do share this with us and if you feel more comfortable sharing it as a member it is totally fine as well :)

I am really sorry that you have lost your mother. Grief is just such a hard and complex emotion especially losing someone so close to you. I mean, I guess there is no universal advice to give here, but I want you to know that we are here for you and if there is anything we may be able to help you with or you would just like to vent as the anniversary draws nearer you are not alone in this. heart

Of course, I can imagine it has to be really hard still when you do not have much support from your family but I want you to know that you do deserve to be heard, cared for, loved, and supported :)

It is totally fine to cry, it is an important way to release a lot of built up emotions that you may have, especially at this time of the year and while I cannot be there with you I can always offer virtual hugs if you ever feel like you may need it :)

I am having a hard time believing those things as well. That is why I try to remind people if I can tho. I know how hard it can be sometimes and maybe hearing it once again does not help much but I do not mind trying for that slight chance that it may help someone sometimes :)

The beautiful thing. I think you can define beautiful many different ways and I cannot really judge looks as I have never seen you so I can only go with the alternative way and say you that I think you are a really strong, brave, and still caring and, if you ask me, beautiful person, from what I can see any tell anyways :)

Stay strong and awesome! heart

I contracted pneumonia and the flu and was hospitalized for a while due to having a lung transplant and the severity of the two illnesses.

It really frightened me when it happened as it brought back all my issues from when I was sick. Now that I am home, there hasn't been any marked improvement and my respirologist let me know it would be two months until I felt better. He also prescribed a very high dose of one of my medications to try and clear my airways.

This week I am trying to be calm, and stay in a good space.

My plan is to read and cuddle with my wife.

Hey there @jtkretzschmar *offering safe hugs*

It is really nice to see you around here! heart

Oww, I am sorry to hear that you are going through so much. Pneumonia on it's own can be really hard to deal with and with that flu going on especially after a lung transplant I can imagine it has to be really, really hard on you.

I am glad to hear that at least you have got some positive prognosis even if it will take quite some time to recover but hopefully those meds will help you at least make it a bit easier to breath for you and probably even speed up your recovery a little bit :)

For now tho just try to get as much rest as you can and focus on your recovery. I mean, reading and spending time with your loved ones definitely sounds like a good way to spend that time. :)

Get better soon and stay awesome! heart

Hi Red.

I always look forward to your posts every week because you are so positive and kind. Im glad that you are trying to incorporate some positive self talk In your life. You are so positive when you talk to us; you deserve that same positivity for yourself!

Its funny, I was just telling a friend today how it used to be if I tried to say something nice about myself, my mind absolutely rejected it. Even if I wanted to believe it I didnt have the capacity. But sometimes, just sometimes, now I actually can say a few nice things about myself. Thats a positive change.

If I had to pick one thing I liked about myself, I would probably say that overall I think Im a pretty kind person. And I do like that about myself. Although sometimes external forces in life make me start doubting whether thats the kind of person I really am or not but Im pretty sure it is. Hope so anyway.

I did get to enjoy some time with friends today, hanging out, eating, laughing and just being silly. It was actually really nice.

On the less positive side, I have dealt with quite a bit of anxiety today. Although I think I handled it pretty well. And I did help clean up after a get together, which I often find difficult to do. I was shaking while I was doing it but I succeeded and I did help.

I have also been dealing with a flashbacks/memories that I havent really worked through yet. It was pretty traumatic. Terrifying. Overwhelming. Disgusting/sickening. It hurts. I can cope with it better now than in the past but its still difficult.

Hey there @pioneeringBanana1598 *offering safe hugs*

It is always really nice to hear from you around here as well and something I do always look forwadr to! heart

Thank you very much for your feedback it really means a lot to me that you do like my chek-ins and I do really try my best to be more positive about and with myself as well, there is still quite some way to go to get there but I think I am making some progress :)

Every single little stepst count! heart
I mean, I was there, I was really, well, let's just say "not liking" myself for a good while and I know it can really be hard to break out from that mindset. That is kind of why I decided to share my experience with it and things that help me and I am just really glad in general that you are making progression with it as well :)

I think you are kind. I know you are going through a lot but I have still seen you here caring about others and just try to be there for them as best as you can and I want you to know that it is just such an amazing thing of you. I do really admire that strength you have and just the caring and really kind person you are. heart

yay! It is always really nice to spend some time with people you do love and I am so happy to hear that you have had such a nice time woth them! ^-^

Yep, you have definitely helped out there, no matter how hard it might have been you have really done an amazing job and I am really proud of you for it. heart

I am sorry to hear that you do have to deal with those flashbacks tho. I know it can be really hard but I want you to know that you are not alone in this, we are here for you, your friends you have just spend some nice time with are there for you and you do deserve all the support, love, and care to come to your way :)
Also, you are already making great progression and I do really believe in you, I believe in that you can do it and you can get through this and you can - and I believe that you will - get better! :)

Stay strong and awesome! heart

@redmark

Thank you. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. You really do help me.

Had a really good day overall today. But more bad memories tonight. Kind of new but kind of familiar. But mostly new. I remember getting hit and how much it hurt. I didnt deserve that. It hurts when those memories come back. Sad. So sad inside sometimes. Not as bad as before for sure but still hard sometimes.
