Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in: Saturday, 4th of May, 2019

Happy Saturday! I have really missed you all.
How are you feeling today? :)
How has this week been for you? Do you have anything on your mind you would like to share about it? :)
My week was busy and it came kind of out of the blue which can be hard. On these weeks, especially, it can be hard to find the time for yourself and just practice some self-care.
Self-care can really be a lot of things tho, big or small, it does not matter. :)
Sometimes we might only focus on something big ahead of us, like having a week off of work, visiting a spa for a day but in fact there are so many little things that can just help you at the moment, to get through the day better, and after all, that is the whole point of self-care, for me. :)
I, for example, have a little red panda plushy standing at my monitor at work, so I can just kind of pet that quickly. Stopping for a second at a time to just breath and let yourself some time. One or two minutes at a time. Listening to some songs you like. Getting your favourite food - doesn't has to be healthy necessarily - or some drink - like bubble tea for me.
Whatever might help you to get through the day. :)
What was the last thing you have done for self-care, for yourself? What is something you might be able to do right now or throughout this weekend? :)

Yep, the theme of today's post is dogs :P
Of course, as always, all of the above questions are optional and there is no pressure on you to answer any of them. If you would just like to say hi or sit around with us for a bit you are always welcome as well, we are just happy to have you around here with us. :)

Oh, flowers, they are really pretty and just really nice to have. What kind of flowers have you got? :)
Stay awesome!
@redmark
Thank you for welcoming me :)
I think the flowers are called Hydangrea (Hortensia?). I really like them and I will certainly buy a plant!
@admaiorasemper

Awesomeness!!! That's a super load of mental work. How long have you been studying and how much longer do you have until graduation?
@HopeN hey! I am not studying for graduation only for exams :) and I have been studying for some hours now so not too much.

I am sorry to hear that, I know that sadness can really be an overwhelming feeling but I want you to know that, no matter what, you are not alone in this and if there is anything we may be able to help you with we are here for you. We can get through this together and things can get better. I do believe in it anyway and I do believe in you! :)
Stay strong and awesome!
@DragonView
Sending safe hugs your way if you want them.
Hi Red. Good to see you, as always. Glad you have been making some time for self-care.
I have had a very good day overall. Went out of town with some friends this weekend. One, it made me feel good to be invited. Two, I dont think I wouldve felt up to doing something like this even a couple months ago. So thats big progress for me.Its been a crazy day but weve had a lot of fun.
As the day started drawing to a close, though, I start having some minor flashbacks. Anxiety building, hurting inside a bit. Its late, and I just want to go to bed, so I can feel decent for the day tomorrow, but my brain doesnt seem able or willing to let me rest right now. Which is frustrating.
Doing well overall. Right now hurting inside, bad memories I think. Im trying but its hard sometimes.
Hey there @pioneeringBanana1598 *offering safe hugs*
It is always really nice to hear from you here as well!
I am really bad when it comes to taking care of myself but I really try to go out of my way lately to kind of "force" myself to do it. Also, I noticed that it actually helps but, still, it is hard to change old habits.
yay! I am really glad to hear that you have got to spend some nice time with your friends like that. It sure can feel really good when you get invited by others to spend time with them and, definitely, you are making really amazing progression and I am just sooo proud of you. :)
It can be exhausting to be social and just be outside and I think it is okay if you are feeling exhausted after it. I am sorry to hear that you are not able to get a good rest tho because of your anxiety keeping you up. I do hope that you will be able to get some sleep soon and just recharge after yesterday as you would definitely deserve it. :)
In any case, you are not alone in this and, no matter what, we are always here for you and we can get through this together. You can do this, I believe in you.
Stay strong and awesome!
I'm not doing too well. I had a panic attack 2 days ago because my trauma got triggered, this is my second one in 6 weeks :/. Since then I have been really on guard, scared to get triggered again. That causes me to wake up really early and now I only slept for 4 hours, with my first exam coming up on Thursday O_O. I'm not really scared to get a panic attack, it's more that I'm scared to get triggered.
Always when I'd get a panic attack because of my trauma I wonder if I'm not just overreacting because my trauma isn't that bad in comparison to other peoples trauma. I know I shouldn't compare my trauma but it just feels like I'm sort of cheating.
Well that's it. Take care y'all <3
Hey there @Amy8 *offering safe hugs*
We are really glad to have you here with us!
You know, each and every trauma is bad. It is a really personal thing how one person may process and just get through certain events and your feelings are always valid and do not need justification.
With that said tho, I am sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time lately. Triggers can be really hard to deal with for sure and cause some really tough reactions, such as panic attacks. I wonder if you may be able to avoid this trigger? - or, maybe even share it with your therapist, if you have one, so they can help you to learn to deal with it and de-escalate the situation as best as possible. I mean, of course, no pressure. We are always here for you as well, no matter what, and together we can get through this. I believe in it anyway and I definitely believe in you. :)
Stay awesome!
