Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Tuesday 13th February 2018
Good morning lovely "truma family"
Its good to be here with you. Its been raining day after day, so it been great to have the Winter Olympics to watch. Amazing feats as those athletes fly throught the air and manage to land upright! One can only admire their abilities and appreciate the countlless hours and the dedication that has got them to this place.All against a background of much beauty....of mountains and snow... the beauty of nature.
"Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature - the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter." Rachel Carson "Silent Spring."
Do you remember when you last spent some tiime in the great outdoors? In observing nature. In experiencing its peace.In absorbing its restoring presence. In just being at one with nature.
How is your day going? Whats your favourite place to go to ? Or pop in to say hi! Love to hear from you. This is your space and a safe place. x
Hello! My day is going just fine. I am exhausted, though. I'm not feeling too motivated at the moment but I'm surprisingly not stressed out about it!
My favorite place in the entire world is Lake Placid. If you have ever been there or even just seen pictures, you'll know exactly what I mean. Whenever I'm there, I spend hours kayaking at my own speed and enjoying the nature that surrounds me. It is the place where I find inner and outer peace. I recommend going there if you ever feel disconnected from nature!
@strangesammy
I believe we are all getting ready to spend some time outside. Your description sounds amazing. I love to Kayak and paddling on flat water is so peaceful ~
I am happy you are having a good day. Thank you for sharing as it reminded me of many wonderful experiences.
I'm not sure how I feel anymore? It's a bunch of emotions ever since I was drugged and raped. I haven't left my house for months in fear I may run across him, but I can't even remember his face. So everyone I encounter becomes an overwhelming ordeal. It's starting to get at me that I haven't gone outside .
@Djs3
I am so sorry you have been through this painfully traumatic experience. Do you have anyone you can speak with? A counselor or therapist who specializes in trauma perhaps?
We will be here for you. We believe you and you dont have to face this alone. There are some wonderful listeners here if you feel like it would be helpful.
Please stay in touch as you begin to work through all of these complex feelings. Remember, everyone goes through this differently and at their own pace.
💛
@Compassionatelistener108
Thank you. I just recently been seeing a therapist. I guess it's helping? It feels awkward. I feel judged when I tell people in person though. Like I couldn't be or I deserved it. Idk? I feel a bit more comfortable talking through here and reading others trama/ coping tricks.
@Djs3
Feeling judged is a very difficult feeling or fear that many of us face. The more frequently we are met with compassion and unconditional support, the easier it becomes for many of us to believe in ourselves again.
I believe you, I support you and nothing about this was your fault. You have done nothing but find the strength and courage to heal. That is inspiring to so many people. I hope you will take these words and remember them when those feelings of shame or other negative inner thoughts arise. 💛
I was down all day with a migraine.
@Rebekahwriter13
I am so sorry. I hope you find some relief. It is hard for those to imagine unless they have a loved one who has experienced them. Mine are rare but I know truly debilitating they can be.
I wish you well 💛
Hi Everyone,
I am so happy to be back amongst friends and an incredibly supportive community. I know this post is late for some people.
I thought a great deal about the everyday walks, hikes and adventures I try to work into my days. They have always been a wonderful way to settle my mind and experience the beauty around me.
I think most of you know I am somewhere around 50 (: As we grow older, family members sometimes experiences health issues. My Dad and Mom has had their fair share recently and I chose to be with them as there caregiver. They have been inseparable. Mom with dementia and Dad was treated with successfully radiation this summer and early this month suffered an ischemic stroke.
I gladly drove Dad to his treatment all summer with Mom at his side. It was both rewarding and challenging for me to really contemplate the changes.
The topic today really touched me as I recalled many days walking through the gardens someone lovingly cared for at the hospitals we visited. I spent many hours sitting outside just appreciating the peaceful respite.
My parents are doing extremely well. They are strong and Dad meets challenges head on. Mom is back to her routine so truly I couldnt ask for more.
This summer/fall I donated a few little extras for the garden. Rozie, you have inspired me to do the same for the people who cared for Dad with such genuine respect this month as he never doubted his ability to recover.
Nature is truly healing.

Hi Scarlet,

Hello Rozie
Hope you are doing well.
I am still working on my health issues.Feeling kind of down and lost in my emotions. Been trying to establish a support system that is failing greatly. Seems My vocabulary and use of the English language is flawed, and my normal thinking process is causing me great harm.I feel like I am on a train ride that is about to derail. So since I am so messed up I decided to clam up and just say the heck with it. Thanks to some of the community they have encouraged me and you to have been a great support. Trying to figure out what I am doing wrong when I talk and in what I say. When I think I got a grip then the train derails again, Nothing seems to be making sense.🤯🤯
Hello everyone🖖
Finally made the decision to let go of my therapist who was the one saying the things that were said. I had tried four times of canceling and letting her talk me back. Then she would not respond to me I guess my punishment for being honest about the therapy. Three days with no response on my dime. No way so to completely dismiss her for the month I took on another therapist and things are so far so good.
