Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Forum Checkin - Friday 7th April 2017
Hello Folks, hows your day been? With the weekend coming up I wonder what plans you all have? Would love to hear what fun you may be getting up to :)
Healing from traumatic experiences takes time and patience and is not an overnight fix. So be patient with yourselves and dont give yourselves a hard time when you hit a few wobbles on your way! Take a break, take some time out to recoup your energies to fight onwards....remember to be kind to you in this process!
Whatever day your having, good, bad, just okay, this space is for you to share whats going on for you, if you need to offload, share your achievements, your fears, your concerns and worries etc.

I am ok, little blah, but ok,
@jr50 A little blah and a little okay is better than a lot of blah and your day being not okay!! lol Thats almost poetic there lol I hope you manage to find something good in your day jr50 and that your day ends up being more positive than negative for you :)
@dancingRainbow45. Yes ,you are right! I will take the little, rather than a lot! Lol
@jr50 Glad to hear you are okay. Anything not negative is all positive JR 🙂
I watched power rangers and related so well with pink ranger so I'm happy \^-^/
@vriska44 mmmm Will have to take you at your word there Vriska lol Seeing as I know barely anything about the Pink Power Ranger - what can you identify or relate to with regards the Pink power ranger?
@dancingRainbow45
Lol rainbow :p
Well she became impulsive due to her depression, which I saw myself in, but she found herself a new purpose and that made her a better person than who she was before, which hopefully, what I'm becoming as well :)
Also, she cut her hair off, signifying a change in her life, which I did before I even saw the movie \^-^/
@vriska44 Love it! And yes you are a good person, even if you can be impulsive! Havent gone for pink hair then lol
@dancingRainbow45
I had an appt with the eye doctor, and then I went to the store for groceries, and I got a tiny succulent and a tiny bamboo too, and now I'm eating some fruit before I get into my homework. If I can get all my homework done I'm gonna work on a rug my gramma wants for her birthday. So it's a pretty decent day :)
@BeeLeigh Sounds a pretty okay day to me there Bee, and we must have been reading minds or something because I too got a couple plants for my garden today :) It sounds like your pretty creative if your making your grandma a rug? Is this your first attempt or have you done this before? Hope your day continues to go from strength to strength and be proud of the moments when things are going good for you, dont let them get lost when the days may not be as bright :)
@dancingRainbow45
I can knit stuff, but I've never made a rug before. This one should be pretty easy though, it's just a matter of having enough time to get it all done! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31dCZn0gmEg
@BeeLeigh Fancy submitting a picture of your creation to show off your creative talents in the newsletter submission form under the creative expressions section of the forums? We need lots of submissions for the first newsletter and this would be great to show people your creative talents. If not well done you though, good on you!!
@dancingRainbow45
Maybe. I don't even know if I'll be able to get it done! I gotta finish all this stupid homework first
@BeeLeigh Have faith Bee! And if you dont get it done today or tomorrow thats okay, just keep plugging away at it until you manage to complete what you set out to do, doesn't matter if it takes a while, do what you can when you can :)
@dancingRainbow45
Well it can't very well be for my gramma's birthday if her birthday comes and goes without me getting it done 😝
@dancingRainbow45
For the plants, the succulent should survive well enough, but the bamboo might be in trouble, cuz I tend to forget to water things and it says to "maintain consistently moist soil", so it'll probably die. I also have a tiny succulent I got last summer that's barely alive anymore because I have gone over a month without watering it before I realized it had been that long. So I basically keep letting it get to the brink of death and then bringing it back. Which is not very kind, but somehow it's still alive so I just keep watering it when I remember. The one I bought today says "DO NOT OVERWATER. Water only when soil is dry and then sparingly.", so hopefullyyyyy I don't kill this one
@BeeLeigh Hey Leigh you seem to have good amount of tasks set out for you during the day. Youtube almost has everything one wants to learn today. I am sure you will make a great rug for your grandma.
Going to maybe attempt the grocery store run again. Was able to hold it together for another night. Tomorrow my sister and baby come to town. Whole family gets together. I want to say I'm glad but really I'm just nervous. Hope I don't say or do anything stupid or give anyone cause for concern. My sister tends to get angry and my mom tends to worry.
pretending I'm not depressed and that I'm normal is hard work but we all play along and I guess it's for the best. It's not about me anyway and I certainly don't want it to be. I try to be good for a few laughs or to smooth over any hurt feelings. I need to learn to stop because no one asked me too and I'm not in good form right now.
@themainjane
also I should say I'm very grateful for my family because I know so many here have broken family ties. I will try to just go with the flow and be thankful to have them. I know I shouldn't feel this way over such trivial things. It's just hard to see everyone's problems play out while I'm having my own. I guess that's just family though for those who are fortunate enough to have it.
@themainjane It sounds as though your family gives you some strength and hope Jane? is this correct? Yes your right, some people don't have supportive families but they may be able to find support from elsewhere. Everyone copes the best they can and your doing a good job at being able to hang in there and even consider the run to the grocery store. If something is affecting you and upsetting you, its not trivial. Though everyones problems are different, what may affect one person may not affect the other and so on. Whats more important is what concerns you, thats important, just as other peoples issues are too. Some people may think oh other people have been through worse and so on, but its not so important what someone has gone through but the impact its had on their life and how this has left someone feeling.
@dancingRainbow45
yes, they can be a source of strength and encouragement as long as I play by their rules. My siblings are both quite abrasive and my parents kowtow to them. One sibling is an angry isolating alcoholic and the other is a golden child. I'm accepted as long as I'm compliant. These are also the same people that once left me to become a ward of the state. . So there's a lot of history and we try to let sleeping dogs lie.
@themainjane
I'm at war with myself today. Taking too many baths and god I want a drink. Wish I could just sleep. I'm a loser at life.
I know it's too much to say, too much to reveal. And I know you'll say I'm no a loser. I'm not sure I can beat this and I'm sorry I say to much and am stuck in the past and negative thinking. Seems I have no restraint. But I do. I'm not drinking, I'm not taking too many pills. Just another day I can't face in this wasted existence.
@themainjane
I don't think you're stuck. It may seem like it at times, but if you were really stuck, you wouldn't be reaching out in a place like this. I think you're showing your restraint by being here.
@BeeLeigh
I could hug you for not making me feel pathetic. Thank you ❤
@themainjane
You're not pathetic. I can promise you that. You're coming here and telling us you want to drink. Which really just seems like a way for you to tell us you're struggling, and you don't want to drink but you're worried you might. It's okay. No one here is perfect. I used to cut, I used to smoke, I used to do drugs, I used to drink heavily (and now just socially), and now I just eat when I feel like that. Which is something I'm working on. Or at least I'm working on buying healthier options to keep around my apartment so I literally can't eat a whole pint of ice cream in one sitting. It happens. Whatever "it" is for you, it happens. Everyone's different, and everyone has to find what works for them. But you don't have to feel like a loser or feel like you're pathetic. Because you're not. None of us are. We're just trying to figure out this mess of a life we've been handed. You'll be okay. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day. You're reaching out. That's a really important step. Don't be so hard on yourself
@BeeLeigh
oh wow. Thank you for sharing that. We have a lot in common I guess. I used to cut, restrict my food and purge, drink too much, etc. now I just smoke too many cigs and eat too much.
Thank you for sharing that.
@themainjane
A lot of us have those same things in common with each other. You are most definitely not alone in that, and you are most definitely not pathetic, or a loser, or any other negative thing you want to say about yourself. Sometimes it's hard to see past the dark clouds, but the sun is still there, whether we can see it or not. Don't let the clouds overtake you. Keep reaching through. You're doing great
@themainjane I am Sorry for how you feel Jane. I am glad you have your family with you even though by abiding by their rules. Still it is some sort of a support system. You are fighting a war with yourself itself is strongly indicative of you not being a loser but a fighter. It's just a time period of rest after that Jane will rise and certainly not with a wasted existence. Keep up the spirit. Hold on strong. Give yourself some time. One day you will look back and realise you never gave up. And you will thank yourself. We all are there with you. You aren't alone in your fight. You are awesome and stay awesome always. That is your answer to your thoughts putting you down.
@sujaypai
Thank you <3
I guess it's good to remember I've actually mellowed quite a bit from when life was really crazy. Still wish I had picked up a life along the way instead of just a dread of everything. But yes, I do hope things will truly be different someday - that I'll get tired of having no life and stop wasting this opportunity to be alive.
Anyway, thank you. Thanks to you all.
@themainjane Indeed you will and I am Hopeful.
