I'm a sore face since Sunday evening, fought with hubby. He called me names and I just can't get over it. He hits me sometimes for no reason. I'm looking to God for healing, its difficult being under the same roof with him..

Hi, dazzle30. Here is a quote from a listener in a 7 Cups YouTube video that I have found to beparticularly comforting: "There is nothing in this world that cannot be healed when it can be talked about in a space of no judgment and with an empathetic listening ear."

I was told when I was a kid, you have to break the chain. My mother was referring to school, abusive husbands, and drugs/alcohol. I'm 29, screwed up college, did many drugs and drank, and I married a 37 year old alcoholic. How do I break the chain now? I haven't had kids yet, b/c I don't want that chain to follow. My husband doesn't hit me, but when he's drunk, he fights w/me .. I know what you are saying. I understand.

I get u right TransAm85, the chain has to be broken somehow. My mother went through the same with my father, we would watch her get beaten up and I certainly don't want to go through the same things she went through and worse for my kids to witness this kind of abuse. Its happening to me now though but I'm praying hard to God to break the chain, I know He hears when I pray.

dazzle30 and TransAm85, you are both learning and growing every single day and it's not always easy. Self-compassion (or self-kindness) is powerful in circumstances that are confusing, hurtful, heartbreaking, frightening and shameful.

Thanks TarynNicole for the words of comfort. Its not easy like you said, but i will soldier on especially considering we have kids and I will keep praying God talks to my husband and changes him.
