Am I Real?
As I type out my answer to the above question, I feel numb and my breathing is shallow. I have never felt like I am tetehered/anchored to this world. Often times I wonder if I am real. Now, I know that I am real but when I get anxious or depressed I tend to dissociate.
People that dissociate have loss of interest/activity, feel numb, depressed, anxious, question their existence, etc. All of these things I battle on a daily basis. Wondering why I cannot be in the present, but forever in my thoughts. Where does life begin and where does it end? Stuck in an endless cycle of pretend.
Anyhow, I needed to get some thoughts off my chest.
Thank you for reading. Now time to stop feeling like a robot!
Don't worry that much, just b yourself and have fun, enjoy the world's beauties, the sunshine, the flowers, the birds and the happiness of the world. Leave the disturbing thoughts behind and smile and you embrace this world!! I wish you the best and remember to always keep a smile on your face!
Hello, Unicorn,
I relate to a lot of what you said. I often feel as though I have one foot out the door so to speak, especially when stressed or sleep deprived. One of the first questions my psychiatrist asked me is if I experience situations in first person or outside my self looking in. I have found that in the face of an illness that steals one’s sense of self and enthusiasm, rediscovering your interests, convictions, and morals can help ground you in your identity.
What are you passionate about?
Take care of yourself!
