Testing for DID soon

October 30th, 2021

Hey, I am about to have testing for DID soon because I've b3en dealing with dissociation for last ten months. Somewhere along the way i noticed it is not just me anymore. Long story short, because i am bit hazy as i am writing this, i noticed that they sometimes take control over my body and i fully switch to another person. I also have journaling communication and they sometimes leave me messages that way. And i feel like a sttanger to myself, like i am not even myself anymore. Like i am a completely new person and old me is gone.

My question is what i can expect during testing? How does it look? Am i asked about my childhood? If so that might be an issue because i don't remember most of my life. Everything is foggy and behind an amnesia wall.

Also if i get diagnosed how will that affect my life? Work in future? Driving if one day i choose to?

And what about meds? I have synesthesia so am worried meds might make it go away... And i would be devastated if that happens...

Anyways thanks for reading and sorry it is messy, i am not fully here.

Diagnosed system here! 👋 Testing is just a bunch of weird questions you usually answer on some kind of a scale (from 0-10 or something of the sort). From the questions I was asked it is just "how often does ____ happen" or "do you ever feel this way". The tests are long and can be mentally taxing. Just answer honestly. There are no wrong answers 🙂 How does a diagnosis change your life? It doesn't. You are still the same as you were before but now you have a name for what's going on 🙂 all tasks are different for each system. Most systems I know do drive. I only know one who doesn't and that's mostly bc their body is blind. Also, there are no meds to treat DID. I mean, you can take antidepressants or anxiety meds. For depression or anxiety. But psychiatric meds cannot make your DID go away or "better" and honestly most of the time mood stabilizers and antipsychotics make dissociation worse. Good luck friend! 🙂
